Alpamare

Alpamare is an indoor water park at Gwattstrasse 12 in Pfaffikon SZ, on the southern shore of Lake Zurich in the canton of Schwyz. The operator presents it as the largest water park in Switzerland and states that it opened on 14 June 1977. Its own chronology records a sequence of extensions: the Rio Mare outdoor river pool in 1985, the Alpabob installation in 1986, the four Alpa Canyons in 1990, the Thriller slide in 1998, the Balla Balla slide in 1999, the Tornado slide in 2004, the King Cone slide in 2012, a toddler area in 2016 and Jungle Run in 2018, described by the operator as Europe's longest enclosed racing slide. The park passed to the Aspro-Ocio group in 1999. It is open 365 days a year and employs roughly 100 staff.

The published figures give twelve slides with a combined length of 2,100 metres and a total water surface of 2,750 square metres. Named slides include Balla Balla, Mini Canyon, Triple Slide, Cresta Canyon, King Cone, IceXpress, Tornado, Jungle Run, Cobra and Alpabob. The operator describes a six-metre-deep funnel and an enclosed tube slide run in darkness among the attractions.

There are four pools: one indoor and three outdoors. The indoor pool is the Wellenbad, a surf-wave pool in a tropical planting scheme, at 30 degrees. Outdoors are the Alpa Therme, listed as a thermal whirlpool with water jets and underwater music, at 32 degrees; the Sole Bad, a brine pool with jets and loungers, at 36 degrees; and the Rio Mare open-air river pool with a 100-metre current, at 30 degrees. No natural thermal spring, source temperature or mineral analysis is published, so the water should not be described as spring-fed thermal water; the operator's own labelling extends only to the brine bath and the name of the Alpa Therme. Indoor wellness comprises six saunas and two steam saunas, solaria, three massage rooms, a body-treatment room and a wet-massage room, alongside a fitness area opened in 2007.

Planned construction work began in early September 2026. Bathing operation is maintained throughout the works, with temporary signage routing visitors to open areas, but individual slides and zones close variably as work progresses; at the time of research eight of twelve slides were open, with Alpabob, Mini Canyon, Balla Balla and Jungle Run shut. Separately, the operator is marketing a fiftieth-anniversary programme dated 1977 to 2027 that adds a projection installation in the wave pool (Cinemare), a VR slide, VR snorkelling and a River of Shadows attraction. Park hours are 10:00 to 21:00 Monday to Thursday and Sunday and 10:00 to 22:00 on Friday and Saturday, with slides and the toddler area running until 15 minutes before closing.
