Fortyseven Baden

FORTYSEVEN Wellness-Therme is a thermal bath and wellness spa in Baden, in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland. It draws on Baden's natural thermal springs, part of a local bathing tradition that the venue traces back more than 2,000 years. The site markets itself under the theme "wellness for the senses" and was named winner of the DACH Spa Award 2024, and it holds SwissTainable certification.

The water

The thermal water comes from Baden's springs, which reach the surface at roughly 47 degrees Celsius, and the bathing pools are supplied at around 38 degrees Celsius. The venue describes the water as having the highest mineral content in Switzerland; its recognised mineral components include calcium, iodine, iron and sulphur. The water is classed as a certified medicinal thermal water.

Pools & saunas

The bathing area comprises eight pools in total: five indoor and three outdoor. A cold-water basin is also part of the setup. The sauna landscape offers twelve saunas of different kinds, including saunas where swimwear is worn, swimwear-free saunas and a dedicated ladies' sauna.

Spa & wellness

The treatment area holds eleven treatment and cosmetic rooms plus two rooms designed for couples, offering massages and beauty treatments. A separate experiential space called Kosmos is arranged in three zones, named Makrokosmos, Mesokosmos and Mikrokosmos, with a sound design created by Boris Blank of the Swiss group Yello. The venue also states that childcare and accessibility services are available.

Dining

On site there is a restaurant that focuses on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, together with a bar.

Visiting

The thermal bath and sauna are open daily from 8:00 to 22:00, with reduced hours on 24, 25 and 31 December. Bathing areas close 30 minutes before closing time, and last admission is one hour before closing. Summer tickets start from CHF 29 for a three-hour visit, with day passes and online discounts also offered. The venue is located at Grosse Bäder 1, 5400 Baden.
