Terme Topolšica

Terme Topolšica is a thermal spa and hotel resort in Topolšica, Slovenia, that stays open throughout the year. Its facilities combine a swimming-pool complex, a sauna area, a wellness centre with massage treatments, accommodation at Hotel Vesna, and a dedicated department for the rehabilitation of people with multiple sclerosis.

The water

The resort's thermal water is described as an oligomineral, hypothermal water of the calcium-magnesium-hydrogen-carbonate type. Its composition includes sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium along with other trace elements. The venue links its thermal water to therapeutic use for neurological conditions, spine and joint disorders, and respiratory illnesses. Since 2017 the pool water has been treated with a CO2-based pH regulation system, which supports chlorine disinfection so that less chlorine is used.

Pools & saunas

The centrepiece is a semi-Olympic pool that connects an indoor section with an outdoor section and a paved terrace. There is also a children's pool, plus massage showers, whirlpools and Roman baths. The sauna area holds two Finnish saunas and one infrared sauna.

Wellness, accommodation & other facilities

The Zala Wellness Centre offers therapeutic, special and classic massages, and a fitness facility is available at Hotel Vesna. Guests can stay at Hotel Vesna, which has hotel rooms and family apartments, and dining is provided on site. In the Mladika wing, the resort operates a rehabilitation centre for people with multiple sclerosis, equipped with a physiotherapy department, a work-therapy department, specialist clinics, a gymnasium, massage facilities and a dedicated rehabilitation pool, with 14 double and 20 single rooms adapted to patients and round-the-clock nursing care.

Visiting

Opening hours change by season. In winter (1 November to 31 March) the pools open 8:30-20:00 from Sunday to Thursday and 8:30-21:00 on Friday and Saturday; in summer (1 April to 31 October) they open 8:30-21:00 daily. The saunas run 10:00-20:00 (until 21:00 on Friday and Saturday) in winter and 14:00-21:00 in summer. On weekdays an all-day adult pool ticket costs €17 and a child ticket (ages 4-15) €11, with a 2+1 family ticket at €39; weekend and holiday prices rise to €19, €13 and €45 respectively. A three-hour adult ticket is €14 on weekdays. Sauna access carries an €8 surcharge, with bathrobe rental at €5 and sheet or towel rental at €2.
