Thermana Laško is a thermal spa resort in Laško, Slovenia, built around thermal water that rises from a depth of 160 metres at 32–35 °C. Its pools sit under a glass dome, and it offers a sauna centre, wellness and spa treatments, medical rehabilitation and two hotels.

About

Thermana Laško is a thermal spa and wellness resort in Laško, Slovenia. It is built around the town's natural thermal water and combines indoor pools, a sauna centre, wellness and spa facilities, and a medical rehabilitation programme, alongside on-site hotel accommodation.

The water

The thermal water originates from a depth of 160 metres and reaches the surface at a temperature of between 32 and 35 °C. As it moves through the ground it dissolves dolomite, calcium, magnesium and quartz; the site also lists iron among its minerals. Total mineralisation is stated as 278 to 295 mg/l, which the resort classifies as medium mineralised. The water is used in balneotherapy, including therapeutic bathing, underwater jet massages, pearl baths and Kneipp water paths, and it is offered free at drinking fountains. Thermana cites benefits for circulatory, digestive and musculoskeletal conditions.

Pools and saunas

The Thermal Center houses thermal-water pools beneath a glass dome, which the resort presents as its distinguishing feature and describes as offering water experiences for the whole family. The Sauna Center covers 675 m² and holds seven saunas: a Finnish sauna house, a Finnish sauna with a fire element, the outdoor Kristal sauna, a steam sauna, an infrared sauna, a laconium with linden aroma and a sanarium. (At the time of writing the site states the Sauna Center is closed for renovation, expected until September 2026.)

Wellness and medical facilities

The Wellness Spa Center provides massages and body and face treatments, including beer- and honey-based wellness treatments and Ayurveda and yoga programmes, as well as children's wellness services. On the medical side, Thermana runs a Medical Center with specialist clinics, a Physiotherapy Center offering physiotherapy and occupational therapy, and a rehabilitation nursing care department. Guests can stay at the on-site Hotel Thermana Park Laško (4-star Superior) or Hotel Zdravilišče Laško (4-star), and there is a congress centre.

History

Thermal springs at Laško were discovered in 1845 during planning of the Vienna–Trieste railway, and the bathing resort "Kaiser Franz Josephs-Bad" opened in 1854. The site was later run as a medical rehabilitation institute through the 20th century. The modern Thermana Park complex, with its glass-dome pool, hotel and congress centre, was developed between 2008 and 2012, and the resort describes 170 years of continuous thermal-tourism tradition.

Visiting

The Thermal Center pools are open from 9:00 to 21:00 Saturday through Thursday and from 9:00 to 22:00 on Friday. Thermana states it won a "Best Swimming Pool 2025" award.
