Gesundheitsresort OptimaMed Weissenbach

The OptimaMed Gesundheitsresort at Weissenbachstrasse 111 lies in the wooded Lavant valley of eastern Carinthia, on the hillside above Wolfsberg; the house's own postal address gives the municipality as 9412 St. Margarethen im Lavanttal. It belongs to the OptimaMed group of health businesses within the SeneCura group, and its main business is the Austrian cure and preventive-health stay: a doctor takes the diagnosis on arrival, draws up a therapy plan, and the guest works through roughly three weeks of active and passive treatment supported by talks and dietary counselling.

The water is the house's own. The operator describes natural healing springs on the property applied to the musculoskeletal system and beneficial for the skin, with about 200,000 litres of healing water rising each day at 28 C and used for bathing cures. It calls the source a thermal spring and credits it with a high content of natural carbonic acid together with many minerals and trace elements; no full analysis figure is published on the site.

The bathing part is modest and clearly laid out: an indoor pool, an outdoor pool described as a thermal open-air basin, a lawn for sunbathing, a sauna installation, a steam cabin and a relaxation area with loungers looking out into the greenery. Water jets in the pools are used for gentle massage after therapy. The medical treatment list runs to electrotherapy and ultrasound, remedial gymnastics and training therapy, hydro-balneo and thermal therapies, remedial massage, and nutritional and psychological counselling; a selection of these can be booked by house guests who are not on a subsidised cure.

The indoor pool is open from 08.00 to 20.30 and the sauna area from 11.00 to 20.30. The wellness area is not reserved for residents: the operator states that external visitors may use it, by prior arrangement. Beyond the pools there is a fitness room with Technogym equipment, a spa offering massages and beauty treatments, a cafe with a garden terrace, free parking and an electric-car charging point. Dogs are explicitly welcome. The building itself is stated not to be barrier-free.
