About

Terme Snovik is a thermal spa in the Tuhinj Valley near Laze v Tuhinju, Slovenia, set in the foothills of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. The venue presents itself as the highest-lying spa in Slovenia and as the country's first eco spa, holding Eco-label, Slovenia Green Accommodation and Travelife certifications, and is a member of the Kneipp Association.

The water

The spa is supplied by thermal water drawn from a source about 1.5 km from the baths. The site describes it as rich in magnesium and calcium and containing sodium bicarbonate along with other minerals. It states the water is officially recognised as a natural remedy used for prevention and pain relief, citing benefits for rheumatism, arthritis, sciatica, osteoporosis and recovery from injuries, and for chronic spine and mobility problems. The sodium bicarbonate content is said to help neutralise stomach acid, easing complaints such as heartburn and nausea, and the water is described as gentle on the skin.

Pools

The indoor bathing area offers around 500 m² of water surface and the outdoor area about 536 m². The main indoor thermal pool is kept at approximately 32 °C, with a whirlpool and massage pool at about 36 °C. Outdoor water is held between 26 and 28 °C. Water features include massage beds and jets, floor geysers, waterfalls and water curtains, and a current channel. There are separate children's areas both indoors and outdoors, with a splash zone and small water play features. The site lists three slides, including an 82-metre tunnel slide and two shorter, faster ones. Regular activities include water aerobics, recreational swimming and night swimming.

Saunas & wellness

The sauna world combines several sauna types: a Finnish sauna at 70-90 °C fitted with Himalayan salt crystals, a Turkish steam sauna at 45-65 °C with aromas such as cedar or juniper, and an ice or snow space kept between -5 and 0 °C. It also includes a Jacuzzi massage pool at 36 °C, a two-part Kneipp walking pool with warm and cold water, and a relaxation area with loungers. The wellness centre offers holistic body massages and targeted treatments for the back, legs, feet and face, together with Kneipp therapies that draw on warm and cold affusions, herbal techniques, dry brushing and water scrubs. The programme is built on Sebastian Kneipp's five pillars of water, herbs, movement, nutrition and a balanced lifestyle.

Facilities

The resort provides on-site accommodation totalling 428 beds across apartments, an eco camp and the NaturHotel Snovik 4-star Superior. Dining includes two restaurants (Potocka and a pool restaurant) plus cafe and bar outlets. Around the complex the site notes nature walking and cycling paths.

Visiting

The indoor pools are open daily from 9:00 to 20:00, with night swimming on selected evenings; outdoor pool hours vary by season. The wellness centre operates daily from 8:00 to 20:00 by advance reservation.
