Terme Dolenjske Toplice is a long-established thermal spa resort in Dolenjske Toplice, Slovenia, offering indoor and outdoor thermal pools, the Balnea FUN water park, saunas, the Vitarium Spa & Beauty centre and medical rehabilitation programmes. It sits about an hour's drive from Ljubljana and is served by three on-site hotels.

About

Terme Dolenjske Toplice is a thermal spa resort in Dolenjske Toplice, in the Dolenjska region of Slovenia, on the western edge of the Novo Mesto basin and about one hour's drive from Ljubljana. The site describes it as one of the oldest spa resorts in Europe and a Slovenian health resort with a centuries-long tradition, combining thermal bathing, wellness and medical rehabilitation.

Pools

Bathing centres on both indoor and outdoor thermal pools. The resort's Balnea FUN water park adds four water slides: Star Track, a long slide in the dark with a starry-night effect; Kamikaze, described as steep and fast; Thunder, a closed slide ending with a jump into a thermal pool; and Twister, a wider slide with a soft surface for use with a raft. Sliders must be taller than 130 cm. The water park also has a landing pool for the slides, an indoor children's pool, an outdoor thermal pool, an indoor pool with a climbing wall, and a pirate-ship feature for younger children.

Saunas & wellness

The Vitarium Spa & Beauty centre brings together thermal pools, baths and saunas along with massages and beauty treatments. The site describes several saunas and sauna rituals, and a private infrared sauna can be booked separately. Wellness offerings include massages, treatments and baths, combined wellness packages, and dedicated programmes for mindfulness and relaxation such as Zen and anti-stress programmes. An outpatient clinic offers aesthetic and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures.

Health & treatments

As a health resort, Terme Dolenjske Toplice provides treatment and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders, including spinal pain, osteoporosis and post-surgical rehabilitation, as well as programmes for nervous-system conditions such as stroke and neuralgia. It offers post-operative rehabilitation after breast cancer and other women's health conditions, and the site notes a century-long tradition in the field of women's diseases.

Hotels & dining

Three hotels serve the resort: the four-star superior Hotel Balnea, an art-themed hotel; the four-star Hotel Kristal, whose restaurant features a crystal chandelier; and the three-star Vital Hotel, listed as undergoing renovation. Dining includes the Hotel Kristal restaurant and a modern restaurant with a terrace at Hotel Balnea, with cuisine based on traditional Dolenjska recipes.
