Thermalpark Nitrava

Thermalpark Nitrava is a thermal resort in the village of Poľný Kesov, in the Nitra region of south-western Slovakia. Its indoor pools, in the hotel zone, are open all year; a seasonal aquapark opens beside them in summer.

The water

Two wells supply it. BPK-2 brings up naturally mineral water from around 1,710 metres: highly mineralised, sodium-bicarbonate and weakly alkaline, which the operator links to relief of rheumatism and musculoskeletal complaints. FGPK-1, a geothermal well, gives a high-salinity chloride-sodium water with boron, bromides, iodides, silicates and sulphur compounds.

Pools

Of the ten pools, these are heated:

• Hyperthermal pool, indoor and the oldest: 36–39 °C, about 130 cm deep
• Experience pool, indoor: 28–33 °C, with jets and coloured lighting
• Whirlpool, indoor: 36–40 °C
• Spillway pool, outdoor, open all year: 27–30 °C
• Saltwater pool, outdoor: 38–40 °C, with a recommended limit of 15 minutes
• Lake pool, outdoor, summer only: 26–30 °C, 90–140 cm deep

The summer aquapark adds an experience pool with a current wall, waterfall, climbing wall and water cannons, a lazy river, and a relaxation pool with a water bar. Children have an indoor pool 15–30 cm deep with a mushroom fountain and two small slides, and an outdoor pirate-themed splash area, the Water Castle, 0–45 cm deep.

Saunas

The wellness centre has a Finnish sauna, the Pastierska sauna, at 80–100 °C; a steam room, the Turecká sauna, at 40–50 °C and 50–100 % humidity; and an infrared cabin, Felíciino tajomstvo, at 40–50 °C. A whirlpool, the Kesovský kotol, is kept at about 36 °C.

Staying

The three-star Hotel Thermal Kesov stands inside the resort, with 20 rooms and 56 beds. Its restaurant offers half and full board.
