AVA Thermalpark

AVA Thermalpark, also known as Kúpalisko Diakovce, is a thermal bathing resort in the village of Diakovce in south-western Slovakia. It changed hands in May 2021 and has been extensively modernised since; its five pools now cover around 2,300 m² of water.

The water

Two geothermal wells feed the resort. DI-1 was drilled between 1954 and 1957 to a depth of 3,303 m; DI-2 reaches 1,551 m and taps water at up to 67 °C. The water reaches the surface at around 39 °C and is described as medium mineralised, of the alkaline-bicarbonate type, with calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride and sulphur among its constituents.

Pools

• Swimming pool, 25 m with lanes and starting blocks, 359 m², 1.45–1.60 m deep, 26–28 °C
• Relaxation pool with bubble jets and massage loungers, 795 m², 1.10–1.20 m deep, 32–34 °C
• Total Relax rest pool, 99 m², 1.00–1.10 m deep, 36 °C; not recommended for people with cardiovascular disease or children under 3
• Children's pool with a large water castle, 623 m², 0.25–0.30 m deep, 32–34 °C
• Family relax pool with massage loungers and jets, 615 m², 1.10–1.20 m deep, 32–34 °C

A two-lane water slide stands 9 m high and runs for about 100 m. The Aváčik zone has further attractions for children.

Saunas

The wellness zone has a Finnish sauna at 90–100 °C and a herbal-salt sauna at 50–55 °C, where aromatic essences are added to the steam for inhalation. Whirlpools at 32–34 °C have air, floor and wall jets. For cooling there is an ice chamber at 5 °C, a cooling pool at 12–15 °C and cold showers.

Staying

Accommodation includes an apartment building, family apartments and cottages such as Chatka Obláčik and Chatka Motýlik, as well as caravan pitches and space for tents. Six buffets, two pastry shops and a pool bar serve food and drink, and a shop, Môj obchod, sells fresh baked goods.
