Historic thermal spa in Luso near Bussaco, built on silicated sodic mineral water rising near the Fonte de S. Joao, with a Medical Spa concept.

About

Termas de Luso is a historic thermal spa set in the heart of the village of Luso, near the Bussaco forest in the Mealhada region of central Portugal. Fully renovated, it operates as a modern Medical Spa built on three complementary areas: Classical Thermalism, a Thermal Spa and a Medical Center.

Thermal water & source

The Luso thermal water is a weakly mineralised, silicated, sodic water that rises in the heart of the town beside the Fonte de S. Joao (Source of St. John) and its chapel. The source has a very low total mineralisation (around 40 mg/L) and a slightly acidic pH, emerging at a naturally warm temperature of roughly 27–28°C with a flow of more than 12,000 litres per hour.

Pools & balneotherapy

The spa preserves an early 20th-century thermal pool built in the iron-architecture style. Therapeutic thermalism draws on long-standing tradition and experience, with treatments centred on drinking the water for its diuretic and detoxifying action, alongside balneotherapy and physical rehabilitation and prevention programmes supported by specialised medical staff.

Spa & wellness

The Thermal Spa spans around 1,200 m² with seven treatment rooms, including a double suite with a hydromassage bathtub. It offers a multisensory relaxation and wellness experience harnessing the therapeutic properties of Luso's water, with One Day Spa and Half Day Spa packages, a Thermal Spa menu of conventional and innovative techniques, Aqua Sensations stay programmes and Healthy & Fit wellness plans.
