Termas de Alcafache

Termas de Alcafache is a thermal spa in the parish of Alcafache, Mangualde, set beside the Dao river in central Portugal. It draws on one of the country's richest and hottest natural springs, used for balneotherapy, respiratory treatments and wellness programmes.

Thermal water & source

The water is sulphurous, bicarbonate and sodium-based and weakly mineralised, emerging at around 50 °C. It is captured at depths of roughly 50 and 150 metres and is considered among the richest and hottest thermal sources in Portugal.

Setting & stay

The spa sits in a riverside valley setting. The associated Hotel Alcafache, within the thermal complex overlooking the Dao, offers accommodation and dining; other nearby guesthouses also serve visitors. The thermal season generally runs from March to December.
