Thermae 2000

Thermae 2000 is a thermal-spa resort perched on the Cauberg hill above Valkenburg aan de Geul in Dutch Limburg. It is built on genuine thermal mineral spring water rather than merely heated water, and pairs its bathing world with an extensive sauna landscape and an attached wellness hotel.

Thermal mineral water & source

The resort draws its thermal mineral water from deep springs reached at a depth of 381 metres beneath the Cauberg, tapping water that had been sealed in the limestone-rich Limburg soil and cut off from the surface water cycle for more than 40,000 years. The water surfaces at roughly 32-33°C and is rich in minerals and trace elements, carrying the German quality designation “Ursprünglich Rein” (originally pure). A separate mineral drinking-water source, drilled to about 80 metres in the same geological layers, supplies the taps throughout the complex.

An expanded sauna world offers a variety of saunas and steam cabins, guided sauna infusion rituals (opgietingen) led by sauna specialists, panorama and relaxation saunas, jacuzzis, an outdoor sunbathing lawn and quiet relaxation rooms. Massage and beauty treatments round out the wellness offering.

Hotel

The on-site 4-star wellness hotel has around 60 rooms and 14 suites, ranging from comfort and superior rooms to junior wellness suites, wellness suites and exclusive sauna suites, with direct access to the thermal baths and spa.

Setting

The resort sits on the hilltop Cauberg in Valkenburg aan de Geul, one of the highest points of the region, giving its outdoor pools and terraces sweeping views across the Geul valley.
