Carolus Thermen

Carolus Thermen is a thermal bathing complex in Bad Aachen, Germany, at Passstraße 79. Its baths are fed by the mineral-thermal water of the Aachen springs, and the house frames its offer around the classical idea Sanus per aquam ("health through water"), presenting bathing as a way to relax, recover and regain energy. The thermal bath and sauna world are open together, and the site notes that all attractions, pools, steam baths and saunas are open year-round, with outdoor lounging areas available seasonally and depending on the weather.

Thermal bath

The bathing area centres on a large columned bathing hall with several indoor pools held at different temperatures, extended by outdoor thermal pools in season. Water-based features include a brine graduation system, the "Strokkur" brine steam bath, an Oceanum and a Meditarium, along with a relaxation room and aqua-gymnastics classes. The pools are described as filled with very mineral-rich thermal water; the operator states admission is only from age 6, and children and young people aged 6 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sauna world

The sauna world offers nine saunas and saunaria at different temperatures, an oriental bath with a hammam and three steam baths, and a Baltic sauna landscape. A sauna garden with a lake and several resting areas forms the outdoor part. Themed saunas, infusion ceremonies, meditations and care treatments are offered. The sauna world is a clothing-optional area where wearing bathing clothes is not permitted.

Spa and treatments

The Carolus Spa provides tension-relieving massages, nourishing facial and body treatments, gentle peelings, body wraps and wellness ritual packages, as well as a hammam experience. Prenatal treatments are offered between weeks 12 and 35 of pregnancy, and couples' wellness packages are available. Treatments are booked in advance and, per the site, admission to the thermal bath is not included in the treatment price.

Dining

Gastronomy on site includes the thermal bistro "Esseria".

Hours and admission

The thermal bath and sauna world are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., with admission until 9:30 p.m. and bathing until 10:30 p.m. (reduced hours apply on 24 and 31 December and on 25 December and 1 January). Thermal-bath admission starts at €19.00 (Mon–Fri, up to 3.5 hours) rising to €25.00 for a whole day at weekends and on holidays; combined thermal bath and sauna tickets range from €40.00 to €52.00. Extras such as parking (€6.00) and towel, sauna-towel and bathrobe rentals are available for a fee.
