About
AquaSol is the bath and sauna complex of the Stadtwerke Kempen in the Viersen district of North Rhine-Westphalia. The operator presents it as a combined Sauna und Wasserwelt in three parts: an indoor bath with an attached winter garden, an open-air bath used in the summer season, and a sauna installation on an open roof garden, with a bistro and a course programme alongside. The indoor bath and the sauna work all year; the lido runs from 1 June to the last Sunday in August, and the 2026 open-air season ended on Monday 31 August.
Inside, the 25-metre sports pool is held at 28 °C and is used at times by schools and clubs, for which the operator publishes a daily pool-occupancy plan. A separate course pool measuring 10 by 10 metres has an adjustable lifting floor for aqua biking and aqua fitness and, in future, for swimming lessons. A swimming channel leads out to the all-weather pool, a 25-metre lane pool kept at 23 °C throughout the year and lit by LED colour effects before sunrise and after dusk; the glazed winter garden forms the bridge between inside and out. The children's area has two small slides, a play table and an artificial stream, and there is a treading pool of deliberately cool water for Kneipp-style water walking. The main slide, Magic Eye, is an 80-metre tube slide starting from a height of nine metres with light reflections along its length.
The brine section consists of two connected pools, one in the hall and one in the open air, joined by a passage; the operator describes the water as salt-rich and beneficial for the skin but publishes neither a concentration nor a source, so it is a salt-water pool rather than natural brine, and the bath makes no thermal claim anywhere. The sauna installation sits on the open roof garden and holds three cabins at different temperatures plus an ice fountain: a caldarium steam bath at 45 °C with 100 per cent humidity, an event dry sauna at 90 °C seating 36 people where the herb and event infusions are held, and an aroma sauna at 60 °C with 40 per cent humidity and changing light. Lounges, fireplaces, a large rest room with panoramic windows, a sun deck and the bistro complete the area.
The Wasserwelt opens from 10:00 to 21:00 Tuesday to Friday with early swimming from 06:30 to 08:00, from 10:00 to 18:00 at weekends and on public holidays, and on Monday only during the North Rhine-Westphalian summer holidays. The sauna is closed on Monday and otherwise follows the same hours. Tills close 45 minutes and bathing 15 minutes before the end of opening. Both the Wasserwelt and the sauna shut from 28 September to 9 October 2026 for their annual deep clean, and again on 3 October 2026, German Unity Day.
