Aquana Sauna & Freizeitbad

Aquana lies about 500 m as the crow flies from the centre of Würselen, near Aachen and within reach of the Dutch and Belgian border region. The operator describes it as "AQUANA – Sauna- und Freizeitbad in Würselen". The water is plain treated and heated tap water: nothing on the operator's pages claims a thermal spring, a mineral water, a borehole or brine-filled pools. The only brine on site is in the steam bath, where a solution made from Dead Sea salt is injected into the steam. The house runs a combined heat and power unit in the building and a water-recycling plant that it says cuts water consumption by 70 per cent, and it gives a total water surface of 1,774.24 m².

The operator lists the bath's parts rather than counting its pools. Indoors there is a 25 m hall pool with a diving-platform installation, used for school, club and public swimming; a wave pool; a children's pool with an integrated play area and water play equipment; the pirate ship "Aquana", built for children up to about ten, with water cannons on the masts and a raft with its own cannon; whirlpools; and a Lazy River ridden on large rings. The slide set has the Black Hole, an enclosed tube 75 m long with running lights and spotlights, minimum age eight, and a Master Blaster water-jet uphill coaster, minimum age seven. A wobbling climbing wall up to 7 m high is operated with a safety harness when pool supervision allows, alongside water walking balls, an obstacle course and a slackline. Outdoors, a 25 m heated open-air pool and a children's outdoor pool serve a sun terrace and lawn, with a free beach volleyball court on the outdoor grounds; the outdoor bath runs in the summer season only and opens from an outside temperature of 20 degrees.

The sauna world enumerates its cabins with temperatures but gives no total: Kräuterstube at 60 °C with eucalyptus and lavender, Panoramasauna at 85 °C with a large flatscreen, Softsauna at 55 °C with spectral colours and about 50 per cent humidity, Finnische Sauna (dry sauna) at 90 °C in the garden, the Löyly infusion hut at 90 °C where trained sauna masters run eight- to ten-minute infusions on the hour, the Würselener Schwitzhütte at 90 °C for a maximum of twelve people and open Fridays and Sundays, and a salt steam bath at 45 °C at close to 100 per cent humidity. There is also an infrared cabin, a sauna garden and a Ruhehaus quiet house with 24 loungers, one wing with soft music and one in complete silence.

The leisure bath is closed on Mondays and opens Tuesday to Friday 15:00–19:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 10:00–19:00, running 10:00–19:00 daily during North Rhine-Westphalian school holidays; water time ends fifteen minutes before closing. The sauna opens Monday to Thursday and Saturday 10:00–22:00, Friday 10:00 to midnight (to 01:00 on long sauna nights) and Sundays and holidays 10:00–20:00. A sauna ticket includes free use of the leisure bath while it is open. Leisure bath admission is 14.50 € for an adult day ticket, 11.00 € for four hours and 8.50 € for 90 minutes, with a family day card for up to two adults and three children at 38.50 €. Sauna admission is 23.00 € Monday to Friday and 24.50 € at weekends and on holidays, 12.00 € for children up to ten. Parking is charged at 2.00 € a day.
