Tölgyes Strand

The Tölgyes Strand, styled by its operator the Tölgyes Gyógyvizű Strandfürdő és Kemping, is a medicinal-water lido with an adjoining campsite at Gyöngyvirág utca 22 and 24 in Jászapáti, a small town in Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county on the Great Hungarian Plain. The bath was built in the early 1960s around a sodium-hydrogen-carbonate water and is described by the operator as one of the town's notable features. Its water comes from a well 805 metres deep, listed in the national well cadastre as B-15. The National Directorate of Spa Resorts and Medicinal Baths recognised it as a mineral water in April 2001 and certified it as gyógyvíz, medicinal water, on 8 April 2002.

The published analysis gives sodium at 250 milligrams per litre, hydrogen carbonate at 756, calcium at 22.2, chlorine at 9, magnesium at 5.7, potassium at 3.8 and iron at 0.14, with a pH of 7.5 and total mineral content of 1,110 milligrams per litre. The water temperature is stated as 49.0 degrees in the analysis, though a descriptive passage elsewhere on the same site puts the well yield at 45 degrees; both figures are published and the discrepancy is unresolved. The bath cites a clinical study of the water's effect on knee and hip osteoarthritis in which 88 of 170 examined patients from Jászapáti, Jászivány and Jászkisér completed a three-week bathing cure, reporting improvement in most measured parameters that persisted at three months. The operator recommends cure-style rather than occasional bathing, at a minimum of two twenty-minute baths a day over two weeks, and notes that a bathing reaction of mild nausea, dizziness or increased pain may appear between the fourth and sixth day.

In a normal summer season the bath operates five pools: a therapy pool at 37 to 39 degrees of 71.4 square metres, a thermal pool at 35 to 37 degrees of 160 square metres, a teaching pool at 28 to 30 degrees of 240 square metres, a large swimming pool at 25 to 27 degrees of 525 square metres and 2.1 metres deep, and a children's pool at 28 to 30 degrees of 150 square metres and 40 to 60 centimetres deep. A water slide operates on separate coupons or an all-day ticket. Therapeutic services are subsidised by the national health insurer and cover balneotherapy, medicinal massage, mud treatment, underwater group physiotherapy and remedial swimming for under-eighteens; medical prescription is required for the subsidised course, while massage and mud treatment can be taken without one. Mud is applied at 42 degrees for about twenty minutes. The campsite alongside has 240 places on grass, is rated three stars and is popular with foreign visitors; four three-person cabins, two two-person stone rooms and a sixteen-person lodge can be rented.

The bath is closed and no reopening date has been published. The operator states that the Tölgyes Strandfürdő is still closed, that an official licensing procedure is in progress and that it has no precise information about when the 2026 season will open. Consistent with this, every figure in the bath's own tariff table is printed as zero, the bath telephone number is annotated as unavailable, and the contact block reads that the lido is closed. Only the campsite is trading, having opened on 26 June 2026, and its published prices apply to accommodation alone.
