Berekfürdői Gyógy- és Strandfürdő

Berekfürdői Gyógy- és Strandfürdő is a medicinal and beach bath (gyógy- és strandfürdő) in Berekfürdő, Hungary. The site states that it stretches across roughly 8 hectares of green surroundings, holds 12 pools of differing temperatures, and welcomes guests 365 days a year.

The water

The bath's thermal water is a mineral water; the published composition lists sodium (Na+) at 860 mg/l, hydrogen carbonate (HCO3-) at 1270 mg/l and chloride (Cl-) at 600 mg/l, together with metaboric acid and metasilicic acid, for a total dissolved mineral content of 2874.7 mg/l. According to the bath, the water is recommended chiefly for musculoskeletal complaints, including calcification of the spine, hip and knee joints, and for rehabilitation after accidents; it is also indicated for rheumatic conditions and nervous exhaustion. The site adds that some visitors take the water as a drinking cure, reporting relief from heartburn and gastric discomfort.

Pools

The bath describes five indoor pools that operate year-round: two covered pools (79 m2 at 34-36 C and 37 m2 at 36-38 C), an indoor experience pool of 100 m2 at 34 C, a small indoor children's pool of 10 m2 at 34 C, and a weight bath (súlyfürdő) of 12 m2 at 32-34 C and 200 cm depth that is used only for medical purposes on a doctor's recommendation. The bath is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00 (pools until 19:45), while the sauna operates Monday to Thursday 14:00-19:00 and Friday to Sunday 10:00-19:00. Adult day tickets range from 3,800 to 4,400 HUF depending on the season and day of the week, and children under 3 enter free.
