Cascade Barlangfürdő

Cascade Barlangfürdő (Cascade Cave Bath) is a thermal bathing complex in Demjén, Hungary, operated as part of the four-star Hotel Cascade Resort & Spa. Its centrepiece is a cave bath that the venue describes as the largest of its kind in Central Europe, with a 1,500-square-metre water surface set within a 760-metre cave structure whose design draws on the film Avatar.

The water

The bath draws on a thermal supply reached by a well 690 metres deep. The site characterises the water as a sodium-calcium-bicarbonate medicinal water that is hard, fluoridated and sulphurous, with a notable content of iron and metasilicic acid. It received a Hungarian medicinal classification in February 2015 following inspection by the National Chief Medical Officer. The venue lists indications including rheumatic complaints, degenerative joint changes (osteoarthritis), osteoporosis, gout, bone injuries, pre- and post-operative orthopaedic care, and stress-related conditions of the nervous system, alongside a set of stated contraindications.

Pools & saunas

The bathing areas include five outdoor pools kept at different temperatures and two indoor thermal pools, together with the cave bath itself. In the high season an outdoor children's pool with a slide and a sandy sun terrace is available to hotel guests, and a slide park operates within the complex. The Aqua Spa wellness area offers a Finnish sauna, a steam cabin, an infrared cabin, a salt room and an aroma room, plus an indoor pool and a sun terrace. Themed sauna sessions are run by trained sauna masters.

Facilities

The resort combines the bath and wellness areas with the four-star Hotel Cascade Resort and a fitness room equipped with HOIST machines and free weights. Entry to the bath covers use of the outdoor pools, slides and the indoor wellness section.

Visiting

The bath is located at 3395 Demjén, Hungary. Published opening hours are Monday to Thursday 10:00-21:00, Friday 10:00-22:00, Saturday 09:00-22:00 and Sunday 09:00-21:00, with the site noting continuous hours on public holidays. All-day adult admission is listed at 9,990 HUF, with reduced rates for students (8-18), seniors and children, and family tickets available; an afternoon ticket after 18:00 is offered at 5,990 HUF in eligible periods. Towels, bathrobes and safe-deposit boxes can be rented for a fee plus deposit.
