About
Termálfürdő Leányfalu is a thermal bath at Leányfalu, on the Danube bend north of Budapest. It is a summer-facing municipal bath rather than a spa hotel, and it stays open into the night at the end of the week.
The water
The water is drawn from a well 1,008 metres deep, at 53.4 °C, sunk in 1968. It holds the Hungarian gyógyvíz designation, an official medicinal certification, and it is a calcium-magnesium hydrogencarbonate-sulphate water. According to the venue it is used for skin complaints.
Pools
There is a swimming pool, a beach pool and a children's pool, with water aerobics classes on the programme.
The heating project
The thermal well was renovated and a heat pump installed, splitting the pools into two groups — those heated directly by the thermal water and those assisted by the pump. Drainage water is now collected in a reservoir, giving the pump a source at about 30 °C, and solar panels were added to cover part of the electricity. A monitoring system replaced what the venue describes as a previously unregulated heat supply.
Visiting
The bath is open daily from 06:00 to 19:00, with a separate late session from 20:00 to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The bath is at Móricz Zsigmond út 142.
