Szent István Strandfürdő (uszoda)

Szent Istvan Strandfurdo is the outdoor and indoor pool complex of the historic Palatinus-to bathing site in Esztergom, built around a genuine artesian well: drilling for the Szent Istvan well started in 1907, reached a depth of 323.5 meters in 1910, and yielded water at 29.6 degrees Celsius. An Art Nouveau indoor pool building was completed over the well in 1912, and a 25 by 50 meter outdoor pool, large enough for national swimming competitions, was added in 1927. Natural warm springs at the foot of Szent Tamas hill also feed the outdoor pool through a 473-meter underground gallery. Since 2006 the site is a protected monument named Szent Istvan Artezi Furdoegyuttes. The price list lists adult, child, pensioner and family admission, a diver ticket, monthly passes for swimming, triathlon and water-polo training, a monthly therapeutic-swimming pass, hourly rental of the 50-meter pool or a lane, and a separate sauna admission or subscription. The covered pool is open weekdays 6:00-19:00 and Saturday 6:00-18:00; the operator lists Sunday as 8:00-16:00, an hour later at opening than our database records. No sauna cabin type, waterslide, or pool temperature besides the well's 29.6 degrees is stated.
