A municipal medicinal and open-air bath in Püspökladány on the Great Hungarian Plain, built on an iodine- and bromine-rich water certified as gyógyvíz in 1987, with a state-funded balneotherapy department and its own fishing lake fed by the bath's salt water.
About
Sárrét Kincse is the medicinal and open-air bath of Püspökladány, a town on the Hajdú-Bihar plain where the Sárrét, Nagykunság and Hortobágy landscapes meet. Thermal water was struck here as early as 1920, and the bath itself was built some four decades ago to make use of it; the water was formally declared a medicinal water in 1987. The operator, the municipal utility company Püspökladányi Városüzemeltető és Gyógyfürdő Kft., runs the site at Petőfi utca 62 daily from 8:00 to 19:00, with the cash desk closing an hour before.
The water is described as iodine- and bromine-bearing, rich in hydrogen carbonate and high in sodium. The published analysis puts total dissolved mineral content at 2,590 mg per litre, with sodium at 770 mg/l, hydrogen carbonate at 1,150 mg/l, chloride at 538 mg/l and iodide at 3.6 mg/l. The operator points the water at musculoskeletal and rheumatic complaints, nerve and muscle pain, tendon sheath inflammation and skin conditions, citing anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and muscle-relaxing effects.
Bathing is arranged around a swimming pool, a learner pool, a children's pool and outdoor medicinal pools, and an indoor wing keeps the bath running through the winter. Alongside the pools the bath holds a licensed outpatient clinic — 35 consultant hours a week across two specialists, plus 60 hours of physiotherapy and remedial gymnastics — and a balneotherapy department offering pool baths, medicinal baths, weight baths, mud packs, carbonated tub baths, underwater jet massage (tangentor), medical massage and underwater group exercise, all available with Hungarian social-insurance support on referral. The wellness side is smaller: two separate Finnish saunas, a solarium and refreshing or aromatherapy massage, sold as combined packages with a bath ticket.
The grounds add a beach volleyball court, a grass football pitch and cooking facilities for groups, and the bath's own salt-water reservoir doubles as an angling lake stocked with carp, grass carp, bream, tench and crucian carp. Day permits cost 4,400 Ft and are sold at the bath's cash desk between 7:30 and 18:00; fishing runs from 8:00 to 19:00 on one bank only, two rods per angler, strictly catch-and-release with a mandatory unhooking mat.
