Bocskai Strand- és Gyógyfürdő

The Bocskai Strand és Gyógyfürdő is a medicinal bath complex at Uzsok tér 1 in Hajdúböszörmény, a town in Hajdú-Bihar county in eastern Hungary, run by the municipal HB Holding group and trading online as Bocskai Termál. It combines several distinct departments under one management: an indoor medicinal bath, a physiotherapy and balneotherapy department, an open-air lido, a covered swimming pool, a gym, and accommodation in the form of medicinal apartments and a thermal campsite. Sixty-five parking spaces are provided free of charge, two of them reserved for disabled visitors, with coach parking in the inner courtyard.

The bath's credential is its water. The operator states that the water of the deep thermal well drilled at Hajdúböszörmény was certified as medicinal water in December 2003 and that therapeutic treatments began on 1 July 2005. The published analysis gives sodium at 1,260 milligrams per litre, chloride at 1,357, hydrogen carbonate at 1,530, metaboric acid at 100, metasilicic acid at 48, free carbonic acid at 60, iodide at 1.0 and bromide at 0.54, alongside smaller quantities of potassium, ammonium, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, lithium, fluoride, sulphate and phosphate. The operator describes the composition as iodide, bromide, fluoride and sodium-chloride, well suited to complaints of the locomotor system, rheumatic and joint disorders, and gynaecological and thyroid problems. Treatments include carbonic-acid baths, medicinal tub baths, mud packs, medicinal massage, underwater jet massage, underwater physiotherapy, weight baths, individual and group physiotherapy, and a range of electrotherapies. Referred patients are subsidised by the national health insurer, but the operator states expressly that some treatments can also be taken without a medical prescription at the full fee, so this is a public bath and not a prescription-only clinic.

Indoors, the medicinal section has two therapy pools at 33 to 35 degrees fitted with neck showers, waist massage, bubble benches and floor bubblers, with a recommended bathing time of thirty minutes; a contrast bath at 38 to 40 degrees intended for five-minute immersions in alternation with a cold plunge; a sauna plunge pool at 18 to 20 degrees; and an outdoor circular pool at 36 to 38 degrees. The sauna area holds a large Finnish sauna at 85 to 95 degrees with a regular infusion programme, a small Finnish sauna at 80 to 90 degrees seating ten, an infrared sauna at 40 to 65 degrees and a steam sauna at 43 to 46 degrees with 80 to 100 per cent relative humidity. The open-air lido, which opened for the season on 22 May 2026, has a swimming pool at 26 to 28 degrees used for early-morning lap swimming, a lido pool at 30 to 32 degrees with a slide, a medicinal pool at 36 to 38 degrees and a thermal pool at 35 to 36 degrees. The covered pool alongside is a seasonal facility with a four-lane, 25 metre tensioned-surface competition pool at 27.5 degrees and a teaching pool at 30 to 31 degrees.

Hours differ by department: the medicinal bath and the lido open daily from 09:00 to 20:00 with pools clearing at 19:30, the lido additionally offering morning sport swimming from 06:00 to 08:00; the physiotherapy department opens daily from 09:00 to 16:00; the campsite reception from 09:00 to 16:00 with the main gate closing at 21:00; and the gym daily from 06:00 to 19:30. Two closures apply at the time of writing. The covered pool is shut for the summer season, with swimmers directed to the 33 metre pool on the lido. Separately, the operator announces that the medicinal bath section is closed for maintenance from 7 to 10 September, while the lido, physiotherapy and other departments keep normal hours.
