Bihar Termálliget Strand- és Termálfürdő

Bihar Termálliget Gyógy- és Strandfürdő is a combined medicinal and beach thermal bath located in the green belt at the heart of Berettyóújfalu, Hungary (Fürdő utca 1, 4100). The complex covers more than 22,000 square metres and combines an outdoor beach bath, an indoor medicinal bath, a sauna world, and a range of medical treatments.

Thermal and medicinal water

The bath is supplied by the Herpály medicinal water, which was classified as medicinal water in 1997. The water has a temperature of about 36 °C and a total dissolved mineral content of 1,675 mg per litre. Its stated components include sodium and hydrogen carbonate, together with metasilicic acid (23.3 mg/L), fluoride (4.5 mg/L), and lithium. According to the site, the water is beneficial primarily in the treatment of degenerative musculoskeletal diseases.

Indoor medicinal bath

The indoor medicinal bath contains a thermal medicinal pool (semicircular, 1 metre deep, 34–36 °C), a swimming pool (rectangular, 25 metres long and 1.77 metres deep, 27 °C), and a teaching pool (rectangular, 1–1.2 metres deep, 30–32 °C). It is open daily from 8:00 to 20:00.

Outdoor beach bath

The outdoor beach section (strand) offers an experience pool, a children's pool, a relaxation pool, two thermal pools, and a jacuzzi. The strand is open daily from 9:00 to 20:00.

Sauna world

The sauna world includes a Finnish sauna (about 92 °C, capacity 15–20 people), an infrared sauna (about 50 °C, capacity 2 people), a steam cabin (about 48 °C at 80–90% humidity, capacity 10–15 people), and a salt room built with Himalayan salt-crystal bricks (capacity 5 people). A plunge/immersion pool at 16 °C and 1 metre deep is provided for post-sauna cooling. Seasonal themed sauna sessions from autumn through spring are led by sauna master Varga Balázs, with advance registration and a maximum of 15 participants.

Medical treatments

The bath's medical department offers balneotherapy and physiotherapy services. These include underwater jet massage (tangentor), galvanic bath, carbonated bath, mud treatments, underwater exercise, and weight-bath therapy, alongside medical massage, individual and group therapeutic exercise, magnet therapy (Bemer), laser therapy, and ultrasound. Electrotherapy options include diadynamic therapy, iontophoresis, TENS, mid- and high-frequency therapy, selective nerve stimulation, cryotherapy, and phototherapy. The stated indications cover rheumatologic diseases, sports injuries, musculoskeletal and joint disorders, circulatory problems, inflammatory conditions, and post-infarction rehabilitation.

Wellness, dining and other services

The site advertises a wellness package (including massage, sitting bath, swimming, and use of the sauna world), massage services, on-site dining, and camping. Payment by SZÉP card is accepted.

Admission and hours

Single-entry adult tickets are 3,000 HUF for the strand or the bath, 4,500 HUF for a combined ticket, and 6,000 HUF for a combined ticket that adds sauna access; reduced rates of 2,400 HUF apply to children, students, seniors (65+), and Berettyó Card holders. Ten-visit passes and a dedicated sauna pass are also sold. The medicinal bath is open daily 8:00–20:00 and the beach bath daily 9:00–20:00.
