Sárkány Wellness & Gyógyfürdő

Sárkány Wellness & Gyógyfürdő is a certified medicinal thermal spa in Nyírbátor, in north-eastern Hungary, at 4300 Nyírbátor, Fürdő u. 1. The complex brings together an indoor thermal bath, an indoor swimming section, an outdoor beach area, and a wellness and sauna world, and can hold up to 1,200 guests at a time.

The water

The spa is supplied by the Báthory thermal water, classified as a calcium-magnesium hydrogen-carbonate medicinal water and drawn from springs at Nyírbátor. Its total dissolved salt content is 1,526 mg/l. According to the examination protocol the site cites, the water is recognised for treating rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions, with its minerals, anions, cations and trace elements absorbed through the skin.

Pools

The indoor thermal section holds four medicinal pools: a ring-shaped pool at 34–36 °C with a surface of 68 m², a croissant-shaped pool at 36–38 °C covering 24 m², and two jacuzzis (2.5 m² and 4.5 m²) at 36–38 °C, all around 90 cm deep. It also includes an indoor children's paddling pool. The swimming section adds a teaching pool and a swimming pool. Outdoors, the beach area offers a split medicinal pool (a larger and a smaller basin), a rear thermal pool, an adventure pool served by two giant slides, a children's pool, and a 25-metre swimming pool.

Wellness & saunas

The wellness world features two Finnish saunas running at 80–100 °C with low humidity of 10–30 percent and multi-level benches, an infrared sauna, and a steam bath of roughly 43 °C at full humidity. It is completed by two immersion pools, a Kneipp alternating hot-and-cold bath, and a salt cabin equipped with a salt generator that grinds salt to micron size to imitate salt-cave air. Wellness massage can be booked at the ticket desk.

Medical treatments

Alongside bathing, the spa provides therapeutic services including medicinal massage, weight-bath treatment, carbonated (carbon-dioxide) bath, tangentor, lymphatic massage and magnetic therapy.

Other facilities

Additional amenities include an indoor play house for children, apartment and camping accommodation, and a local-products shop. The spa also runs swimming lessons and baby swimming.

All pools are open daily from 8:00 to 19:45.
