Hajdúnánás Gyógyfürdő

Hajdúnánás Gyógyfürdő is a thermal and medicinal bath in Hajdúnánás, in eastern Hungary, at Fürdő utca 7. Set on a site of about 14 hectares, it combines indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna world, and a dedicated medical-treatment department drawing on the town's certified therapeutic water.

The water

The bath's thermal water rises from a depth of 1,019 metres and reaches the surface at 67°C. The site describes it as a sodium-chloride, iodine-bromine mineral water with a total dissolved mineral content of 7,981 mg per litre. It was officially designated as therapeutic (medicinal) water in 1989. The site notes that the bromine content has a calming, stress-relieving effect, while the iodine content is relevant to circulatory disorders, degenerative musculoskeletal conditions and joint complaints. The stated medical indications are joint, musculoskeletal and gynaecological diseases.

Pools

The complex offers a range of pools of differing temperatures and depths. Covered thermal pools are kept at 34-38°C and 120 cm deep, while the outdoor thermal pools run at 36-38°C and 85-100 cm deep. An experience pool is held at 34-35°C. For children and learners there are a paddling pool at 34-36°C (35-50 cm), teaching pools at 27-32°C, and a teaching pool fitted with slides. A deeper sports pool at 27-29°C (185-220 cm) operates seasonally, roughly from 10 June to 10 September.

Saunas

The sauna area includes a steam bath, an infrared sauna and two Finnish saunas, together with cold and warm immersion pools for contrast bathing. Special sauna programmes are offered on Fridays and Saturdays, and hotel guests have free access to the sauna area.

Medical treatments

A medical department provides prescription-based treatments including thermal pool baths, underwater jet massage (tangentor), carbonated baths, mud packing, traction baths, physiotherapy, therapeutic massage, underwater gymnastics and individual thermal baths. A rheumatology specialist is available on-site, and specialist physiotherapy staff support the treatments.

History

According to the bath, the area's thermal water was first discovered in the 1930s, with extraction beginning in the 1950s; water first emerged on 5 November 1958, and the beach opened on 15 July 1962.

Visiting

The covered and outdoor baths are open daily from 09:00 to 19:45. The sauna operates Monday to Thursday from 12:00 and Friday to Sunday from 10:00, both until 19:45, while medical treatments run daily from 09:00 to 17:00. Stated ticket prices include an adult day ticket of 4,300 Ft, a student or pensioner ticket of 3,400 Ft, a child ticket (ages 3-14) of 2,400 Ft, and separate sauna entry at 5,000 Ft; discounted afternoon and City Card rates, group tickets, family packages and multi-entry passes are also listed.
