Aquacinema Gyógyfürdő és Élménypark
Medicinal thermal bath and adventure park in Kisvárda, north-east Hungary, where water from 602 metres fills four outdoor pools and one indoor pool beside a five-storey tower of fourteen slides.
About
Aquacinema stands at Városmajor utca 43 in Kisvárda, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. The operator dates the present park to 2018 — "Az Aquacinema 2018-ban nyitotta meg kapuit" — but describes a much older bathing history on the same site: people were already bathing in this water in 1971, and in 1978 it was declared medicinal water. The operator attributes the declaration to a hydrogen-carbonate composition and lists the conditions it was recognised for: stomach function, musculoskeletal complaints, chronic gynaecological problems, inflammatory illness, and aftercare following accidents and surgery.
The medicinal water rises from 602 metres and, in the operator’s own words, fills four outdoor pools and one indoor pool today. The pool list gives each basin with its temperature and depth rather than a total: a 25 by 50 metre competition pool at 26 °C and 2.20 m; a quiet experience pool at 30–34 °C, named for experience elements that work silently under water; a wave pool at 26–30 °C running from 0.3 to 2.20 m, with waves for ten minutes every hour; a loud experience pool at 26–30 °C with elements above the waterline; a small Bali pool of medicinal water at 36–38 °C decorated with sculptures beside a bamboo planting; and three thermal medicinal pools at 36–38, 34–36 and 30–34 °C, each 0.90 m deep. No overall pool count is published, so none is recorded here.
The slide park is the other half. The operator calls it one of the largest in the country: a five-storey tower with fourteen slides, reached by stairs, holding a giant corkscrew, a black hole, half-open runs and four-lane tunnel tracks. Three slides on the first level are usable from the age of two; the second level starts at 5.8 metres with the Aquatube at 43 m, the Body slide at 41.5 m and the Mulislide at 36.3 m. Slides need a supplementary ticket and generally a shoulder height of 120 cm. Alongside the water there is a slide park, film-set scenery, a dinosaur and petting area.
Seasons differ by area, and the operator says so plainly: the indoor pools run only in the winter period, while the wellness area opens Thursday to Sunday from 14:00 to 19:00, extending to 20:00 on Thursdays and Sundays from July when a sauna programme runs. The pools page gives bathing hours of 9:00 to 19:00 and the slide park 10:30 to 18:30 daily. At the time of writing the operator’s opening-hours page shows every area — bath, slide park, adventure park and sauna — marked closed for each day of the week, which reads as the end of the outdoor season rather than a permanent closure.
