About
Kamilla Gyógyfürdő (the Kamilla Thermal and Beach Bath) is a certified medicinal bath complex in Balmazújváros, in Hungary's Hajdú-Bihar county, roughly 20 km from Debrecen and Hajdúszoboszló and close to the Hortobágy. It combines year-round indoor medicinal pools with a seasonal outdoor beach area and an extensive sauna village.
The water
The bath draws on three distinct types of therapeutic water: a calcium- and magnesium-bicarbonate (alkaline-earthy) water, an iodine-bromine water, and a silica-rich water. Since 2013 the venue has been a registered provider of balneotherapy covered by Hungarian social health insurance. The water is recommended for a range of conditions, including degenerative spinal disorders and disc problems, wear of the larger joints, muscle and ligament complaints, inflammatory joint conditions, metabolic disorders linked to joint disease, pre- and post-operative joint care, chronic gynaecological inflammation and menstrual disorders, the skin condition psoriasis, and the passing of kidney stones and gravel; it is also cited for improving peripheral circulation.
Pools & saunas
Close to 1,300 m² of water surface is spread across indoor and outdoor pools. These include a 25-metre swimming pool, three thermal pools, indoor and outdoor thermal-medicinal pools, experience and wellness pools, children's pools, a beach pool, and a jacuzzi seating about ten people. Stated temperatures range from about 35–37°C in the medicinal pools to 27–29°C in the experience pools and 30–32°C in the children's pools.
The sauna area, described by the venue as Hungary's largest sauna house, holds up to 100 people at once and is heated by three stoves to between 90 and 110°C, with aufguss programmes of 12–15 minutes led by sauna masters. The sauna village also features Finnish saunas, a Kelo sauna built from 200-year-old Finnish silver-fir logs, an outdoor log-house sauna, a bio-sauna, an infrared cabin, a steam cabin, a salt chamber using Parajd salt, a tepidarium, and Kneipp pools. Two outdoor plunge pools at 14–16°C are provided for cooling down, and a sun terrace tops the sauna building. The venue has hosted the finals of the Hungarian National Sauna Master Championship.

Therapeutic services include massage, with refreshing, aromatherapy, manager, and lava-stone massages on offer. Children's facilities include play areas and dedicated children's pools, and accommodation recommendations are provided for visitors.
