Barlangfürdő

The Barlangfürdő (Cave Bath) at Miskolctapolca, in the city of Miskolc, is a thermal bathing complex created within the passages of a natural limestone cave that formed over hundreds of thousands of years. According to the official website, natural thermal water rises from deep beneath the mountains to fill a series of pools set inside the cave chambers, and the venue is described as one of Hungary's most renowned tourist attractions.

Thermal water

The site states that the natural karst water is around 30°C and has a mineral content of less than 1,000 mg/l. It notes that the water is helpful in relieving joint and musculoskeletal complaints.

Pools

Indoor and cave pools include the Bath Hall Pool at 30°C, described as the iconic central space of the Cave Bath, with massage jets and natural rock formations; a Thermal Relaxation Pool and a Thermal Swimming Pool, both at 33–35°C; the Bridge Hall at 32°C, featuring natural rock formations and the bridge that spans the pool; the Star Hall at 32°C, with atmospheric lighting; and the Roman Hall at 32°C. Seasonal outdoor pools include a Shell Pool with hydromassage jets, waist massage and neck showers, a spacious Shell Swimming Pool, a Lakeside Adventure Pool with underwater seating massage and whirlpool elements, and three children's pools of varying depths for different age groups.

Sauna park

The Sauna Park offers six saunas, including Finnish, steam and infrared types, along with regular sauna rituals, relaxation areas and a refreshing plunge pool.

Other features

An Aquatherapy area is listed on the site but noted as temporarily closed. A Boating Lake offers boat and pedal-boat rentals and shaded walking paths.

Opening hours

The main facility is open 09:00–19:00, with the ticket office closing at 18:00 and the pools at 18:30. The Sauna Park is open 09:00–19:00. The Boating Lake operates 10:00–18:00 on weekdays and 10:00–19:00 at weekends.
