Gyémánt Fürdő

Gyémánt Fürdő, the Diamond Bath, is a family bathing complex at Cseri utca 33 in Tatabánya, in the Central Transdanubia region of Hungary; the operator describes the town as only 45 minutes from Budapest. It brings together an indoor adventure bath on three levels, an open-air lido with giant slides and a wave pool, a sports swimming hall, a sauna world, an indoor playhouse and the three-star Sport Hotel. According to the operator the adventure bath is open on all 365 days of the year, and its own counters give seven pools and 649 square metres of water surface for that part of the complex. Admission is by ticket at the cash desk — day tickets, after-16:00 tickets and separate slide tickets for the lido — and the operator states that the SZÉP card is accepted. The site gives a water temperature, a water area and a depth for each basin, but no information at all about the origin of the water, so nothing is claimed here about a spring or a well.

Pools

The operator lists seven basins in the indoor adventure bath. The indoor experience pool covers 166 m² at 90 to 120 cm deep and is held at 36-38 °C; a swim-out experience pool of 252.8 m², at the same temperature and depth, runs from May and is fitted with a current river, massage jets and a bubble bath. A sitting pool of 50.8 m² (90-120 cm, 36-38 °C) has a bubble bed and a neck shower, and a jacuzzi of 13 m², 90 cm deep, is also kept at 36-38 °C. The children's pool holds 75.5 m² at 30-32 °C and 60 cm, with a separate toddler splash pool of 23 m² at the same temperature but only 15 cm deep. The coolest water indoors is the slide landing pool at 24-27 °C, 67.5 m² and 120 cm deep; two indoor slides, each more than 30 metres long, land in it, and the operator states that under the applicable regulations they may be used from a shoulder height of 120 cm. The sports hall, open winter and summer, adds a 50-metre competition pool at 24-26 °C and a teaching pool 15 metres long and 70 centimetres deep at 28-32 °C.

The summer lido

The open-air strand is a separate set of pools for the warm season. According to the site the outdoor experience pool covers 502 m² at 36-38 °C, the children's pool 205 m² and the toddler splash pool 170 m² at 30-32 °C, the wave pool 539 m² at 30-32 °C, and a combined slide and swimming pool 541 m² at 24-27 °C. Four giant slides are named — UFO, Anakonda, Kamikaze and a rafting slide which the operator says two people can ride at once on a tube — and an interactive playground of 700 square metres stands beside the pools with an adventure castle, climbing frames, swings and a beach-style sandpit.

Sauna and wellness

The Szaunavilág has two indoor Finnish saunas and two more reached from the sauna terrace; the operator states that the stoves heat the surrounding air to 80-100 °C. An infrared cabin is also described, in which infrared radiation brings the cabin to 45-65 °C. For cooling down there is a plunge pool of 3 m² held at a maximum of 18 °C, and an upstairs relaxation room fitted with heated water beds. Sauna sessions, which the site calls szauna szeánsz, last 8 to 12 minutes and are led by the bath's sauna masters; the published times are 17:00, 18:00 and 19:00 on Thursdays and Fridays and hourly from 15:00 to 19:00 at weekends. Massages are available according to the operator.

For children

Besides the children's and toddler pools, the site describes a playhouse with impact-absorbing flooring and foam mats, which can be used during bathing hours even by visitors who are not swimming, a nappy-changing room and a baby-and-mother room, and a child-friendly restaurant with high chairs. Three-hour birthday packages are offered in the playhouse in four tiers, and baby swimming courses run for children from three months to three years, with at most nine babies in a session. Above the water a large LED screen shows cartoons, videos and music, and the operator says major sporting events are carried live in HD.

Opening hours

Hours differ by section and by season, and the operator publishes them together on its Nyitvatartás page. For the swimming pool the site gives 06:00 to 13:30 from Monday to Friday and 07:30 to 20:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, marked valid until withdrawn. The adventure bath's hours are posted as a seasonal notice — at the time of writing, 9:00 to 20:00 every day during the autumn school break — and the sauna, the restaurant, the Gyémánt Bisztró and the playhouse follow the days on which the adventure bath operates. The lido is a summer operation, and the swim-out experience pool indoors is listed as running from May.
