About
Dagály Termálfürdő, Strandfürdő és Uszoda is a thermal and beach bath with a swimming complex in Budapest, Hungary. It forms part of the National Swimming and Water Polo Olympic Centre and is a certified medicinal spa. The site was established in 1948 and was renovated in 2017-2018.
The water
The thermal water is drawn from the "B-14" well, which was drilled in 1944 to a depth of 125.9 metres. The site describes it as a medium-mineralised, calcium-magnesium-hydrogen-carbonate type, hard, fluoridated thermal water with a notable sulfide and silicic acid content. Its stated effects include vasodilating, antispasmodic, connective-tissue and muscle-relaxing, and pain-relieving actions. The water is recommended for gastric and bowel complaints, hyperacidity, kidney inflammation, and the prevention of kidney stones.
Pools & saunas
The outdoor pools include a 50-metre swimming pool at 27°C with a 1,250 m² water surface and a 25-metre swimming pool at 27°C with a 525 m² surface. A thermal pool holds water at 36°C across a 523 m² surface, and a medical thermal pool is kept at 34°C over 516 m². In summer, additional seasonal pools open at 30-34°C, comprising a leisure pool (794 m²), a beach pool (734 m²), a teaching pool (362 m²) and a children's pool (267 m²). Swimming caps are required in the swimming pools, and children under 14 need a physician's prescription to use the thermal pools. The wellness area, restricted to ages 14 and over, offers a Finnish sauna, an infrared sauna, a steam cabin, a salt room, a tepidarium, a cold plunge pool (14-18°C, 2.8 m²), a hot tub (36°C, 14 m²), two Kneipp pools and an ice machine.
