Vitusbad
Vitusbad in Mönchengladbach is a year-round indoor bath combining a 50-metre eight-lane competition pool with a 547 m² leisure basin that holds a wave machine, a slide, bubble loungers and a climbing wall.
About
The Vitusbad stands at Breitenbachstraße 52 in Mönchengladbach and is operated by NEW, the regional utility that runs several baths in Mönchengladbach, Viersen and Grevenbroich. It is an indoor bath split between a sports half and a leisure half, and the INJOY fitness studio occupies part of the same building. The operator numbers four basins. Basin 1 is the Sportbecken, 2 m deep with a water area of 1,055 m², laid out as eight lanes of 50 metres. Basin 2 is a diving basin with a movable floor, varying in depth from 0.60 m to 3.55 m over a water area of 225 m². Basin 3 is the Freizeitbecken, 1.30 m deep with a water area of 547 m², described as carrying a wave machine, bubble loungers and a climbing wall. Basin 4 is a paddling basin of 40 m², from 0.015 m to 0.4 m deep.
The attraction set sits in the leisure basin: the operator lists a slide in the Freizeitbecken among the further facilities, alongside a climbing wall and bubble loungers, and the summary of the leisure side names the wave pool, the children's basin and paddling area. On the sports side there are 1-metre and 3-metre springboards, a diving installation and spectator seating. Free virtual aqua-fitness classes under the HYDROHEX brand run in the shallow-water area and are included for bath visitors. Parking is in a multi-storey car park and is charged.
The water is plain heated fresh water. The operator publishes no water temperatures for any of the four basins, names no spring or well, and the page contains no mention of brine, thermal water or a sauna: a keyword sweep of the venue page for Sauna, Sole and Therm returned no hits, and the only slide references outside the Vitusbad's own list belong to NEW's site-wide navigation for a different bath. There is no sauna area at this bath.
Availability is restricted rather than simply seasonal. The operator warns that school and club swimming limit public use of the sports area on weekdays, and that a multi-purpose basin is at times closed to the public altogether. Swimming time ends 15 minutes before the bath closes. On public holidays the bath runs to Sunday hours unless otherwise announced. The daily opening times themselves are delivered by a script on the operator's site and are not present in the page text, so they are not reproduced here; admission prices are published on the same page as a table with reduced rates for 6- to 18-year-olds, pupils, students up to 25, holders of the Viersen and Mönchengladbach passes and the volunteer card, and severely disabled adults from a 50 % degree of disability, plus a family rate for up to five people.
