Thüringentherme

Thüringentherme is a municipal thermal bath at Mühlhausen in Thuringia. Its pools run cooler than most German therms, between 28 and 31 °C, and the timetable is built around the mixed use of a town bath: school swimming in the mornings, clubs in the evenings and a wave pool on the hour.

Pools

The combined sport and wave pool is the largest at 425 m² and 28 °C, from 0.60 to 3.80 m deep, with underwater lighting, a waterfall, a three-metre diving tower and a one-metre board; a retractable wall divides it into five lanes. The instructional pool holds 61 m² at 31 °C and 1.35 m deep, with a lift for disabled bathers, entry stairs and a counter-current system. Indoor and outdoor recreation pools are both 144 m² at 31 °C, the outdoor one 1.30 m deep and the indoor one from 1.00 to 1.30 m. A water play garden is kept at 31 °C, and the giant slide runs 75 metres.

The programme

The sports pool is given over to lane swimming late in the day — from 20:00 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from 21:00 on Fridays and Saturdays. The wave pool runs every hour between 11:30 and 19:30. Early swimming starts at 06:30 from Tuesday to Friday outside the holidays, seniors have the pool from 10:00 to 12:00 on Mondays, and clubs swim from 17:00 on Mondays and Wednesdays. School swimming from 08:00 to 10:00 on Tuesday to Friday limits how much of the water is open to visitors at those hours.

Sauna

The bath has its own sauna world, and the steam bath is held at 47 °C.

Visiting

The bath opens from 10:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 22:00 at weekends. It is closed on 24, 25 and 31 December, and opens at 14:00 on 1 January. The bath is at Lindenbühl 10 and has step-free access.
