Friederiken Therme

Friederiken Therme is a thermal-brine spa (Solethermalbad) in Bad Langensalza, in the German state of Thuringia. It is a certified medicinal bath built on natural sulphur healing water and thermal brine (Sole), and combines a bathing landscape, a sauna world, a wellness area and medical therapy facilities on one site. The therme dates from 1997.

The water

The spa draws on natural healing waters described by the venue as sulphur, thermal brine and drinking thermal water. The pools are filled with thermal brine at salt concentrations between roughly 1.5% and 6%, with individual basins set at 3% or 5%. The site names movement (musculoskeletal) disorders, rheumatic complaints and skin conditions among the indications for its waters.

Pools

Five pools are described. The indoor pool (Innenbecken) and the outdoor pool (Außenbecken) are each held at 32°C with 3% brine and a water depth of 1.35 m. The spring pool (Quellbecken) runs warmer at 34°C with 5% brine and is fitted with water jets. The cascade pool (Kaskadenbecken) is a 32°C freshwater basin. The therapy pool (Therapiebecken), reserved for therapeutic use, is set at 34°C with 5% brine and 1.35 m depth, and is reached by a lift for wheelchair access.

Saunas & steam

The sauna area holds six saunas plus a steam bath. Indoors are the Rosensauna, a warm-air room at 60°C with rose quartz, the Hainichsauna at 80°C, and an infrared cabin at 45°C. Outdoors are the Kelo dry sauna at 110°C (with a suggested maximum stay of 8 minutes), the Panoramasauna at 90°C with garden views, and the Eventsauna at 90°C, which runs Friday to Sunday. The steam bath (Dampfbad) is kept at 45°C with herbal scents. Guests also have a plunge pool, a whirlpool, heated foot baths and relaxation rooms with spa loungers and waterbeds, alongside outdoor rest areas.

Wellness & therapy

The wellness area features three themed rooms named Rose Garden, Japanese Garden and Hainich. The health and therapy side offers physiotherapy, medical baths and medical training therapy, and the site also has a cryotherapy chamber (Kältekammer).

Dining & on-site

On site are the café and restaurant "Heimatliebe" and an adjacent Sante Royale hotel, plus a parking area for motorhomes (Wohnmobilstellplatz).

Visiting

The thermal bath and sauna are open Sunday to Wednesday from 10:00 to 21:00 and Thursday to Saturday from 10:00 to 22:00. The therapy and wellness area opens Monday to Friday, 7:30 to 19:30, plus by appointment. Standard bath tickets are €13.00 for adults for 2.5 hours and €24.00 for a full day; sauna tickets are €19.00 / €28.00 and combined bath-and-sauna tickets €23.00 / €32.00. Reduced rates apply for children aged 5 to 13, and bathrobe and towel rentals are available.
