Thermenlandschaft der Adelindis Therme

The Adelindis Therme is a thermal bathing complex in Bad Buchau, in the Upper Swabia region of Germany. It combines a thermal pool landscape, a sauna world and wellness areas, drawing on a healing spring that has been recognised by the state since 1989.

The water

The thermal water comes from the Adelindis spring and is drawn from a depth of 800 metres, reaching the surface at roughly 47 °C (a water analysis gives 47.5 °C). The site classifies it as an Akrato thermal water, meaning it is undiluted and pure, containing less than one gram of dissolved salts per kilogram and rich in hydrogen-sulphide properties. Reported constituents include sulphide at 1.6 mg/l alongside calcium, magnesium and sodium. The bath states the water is particularly beneficial for illnesses of the musculoskeletal system, rheumatic conditions and after joint operations or joint replacement.

Pools

The water world covers 1,100 square metres of water surface across seven thermal pools, each with a water depth of 1.30 metres. Four pools are indoors: a therapy pool at roughly 28-32 °C, a relaxation pool at about 35 °C, a whirlpool at about 36-37 °C, and a movement pool ("klingendes Wasser") at about 32 °C, where a music experience takes place daily at 19:30. The three outdoor pools comprise a pool with a current channel at about 35 °C, a pool with bubble loungers at about 36 °C, and a sports pool at roughly 28-32 °C.

Saunas

Described as Upper Swabia's first textile sauna area, the sauna world includes a birch bio-sauna at a gentle 65-70 °C with 10-20 % humidity and a caldarium, a Roman-style steam bath, at 60-65 °C. A further seven saunas are available for a surcharge, with temperatures ranging from 55 to 95 °C. On the last Friday of each month an event sauna runs until midnight.

Facilities

The venue holds a five-star Wellness Stars rating and offers wellness treatments, including hydrojet massage loungers, plus rest areas and a bistro. It is connected by a covered walkway to the adjacent Thermenhotel Gesundheits-Bad Buchau.

Visiting

The thermal bath is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00, and the sauna from 13:00 to 22:00. The complex is located at Thermenweg 2, 88422 Bad Buchau.
