Therme eins

Therme eins is a thermal bath in Bad Füssing, in the Bavarian region of Germany. It draws on the town's sulphurous thermal water, which the site says has been used here for over 70 years, and combines a large pool landscape with an extensive sauna courtyard, wellness and treatment areas, and on-site gastronomy. The spring is recognised as a healing spring, and the therme runs its own medical practice and offers ambulatory bath cures.

The water

The thermal water rises from the spring at 56°C. According to the therme's history, the source was struck in 1938 at a depth of around 1,000 metres during oil drilling, first used for bathing in 1947, and officially recognised as a healing spring in 1950. The water is rich in sulphur: the site reports dissolved hydrogen sulphide of 1.41 mg/l alongside dissolved carbon dioxide of 135 mg/l, plus sodium, chloride and hydrogen carbonate and trace amounts of fluoride, bromide and iodide. Bathing in the water is described as supporting health and wellbeing, and the therme lists uses for rheumatic diseases, heart and circulatory disorders, metabolic diseases, spinal conditions, recovery after surgery, gynaecological conditions and general regeneration.

Pools & saunas

The bathing area has 12 thermal pools with temperatures ranging from 29°C up to 42°C. Named pools include the round pool (Rundbecken) with its "Schwammerl" mushroom fountain, the grotto bath (Grottenbad) and a trapezoid pool (Trapezbecken) where free water gymnastics is offered. The Saunahof is a 3,000 m² sauna area set in a converted Rottaler four-sided farmhouse, with nine saunas and one steam room at temperatures from 40°C to 90°C. These include the Kartoffelkeller potato-cellar sauna at 60°C, the 90°C Jagasauna and Getreidesauna, the Perchtensauna at 80°C, the Heustadel and the 40°C Dampfbad steam room, along with a 15°C cooling pool with a waterfall and an outdoor sunbathing meadow. On Mondays from 19:00 the sauna operates textile-free.

Facilities

Wellness offerings include the SINNENreich area with massages and the hüttenSPA. Gastronomy comprises the thermal restaurant "d'Kuchl", the Saunahofwirtshaus, a cocktail bar at the activity pool and a café. The health side of the venue features an on-site doctor's practice, medical applications and ambulatory bath cures. Free classes such as aqua-yoga and aqua-zumba are offered on set days, and parking is available in an underground garage that is validated on entry.

Visiting

Therme eins is open Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 to 18:00, and Wednesday to Sunday and on holidays from 8:00 to 21:00; it is closed on 15 and 24 December. Adult tickets include a 5-hour pass at €20.50 and a day ticket at €26.00, with an early-swimmer ticket (90 minutes, until 8:30) at €10.00 and an evening ticket from 17:00 on Wednesday to Sunday at €13.00. Children under about 2.9 years enter free, and a day ticket for ages 3 to 14.9 costs €10.00. Prices are stated to be subject to change.
