SoleBad Cannstatt

SoleBad Cannstatt is one of the three mineral baths run by the municipal operator Stuttgarter Bäder in Stuttgart, and the only one of them supplied with brine. The operator lists it under Thermen rather than among the city's indoor or open-air swimming pools, and the water is genuine: five mineral springs feed the pools and the steam and sauna area, and four of them — the Hofrat-Seyffer spring, Wilhelmsbrunnen I, Wilhelmsbrunnen II and the Gottlieb-Daimler spring — carry the German designation of state-recognised healing spring. The Hofrat-Seyffer spring, classified as a sodium-chloride thermal brine, is tapped at 22.0 °C; the Wilhelmsbrunnen springs are carbon-dioxide-rich mineral acidulous waters tapped at 18.4 and 17.9 °C. The Bad Cannstatt and Berg springs together yield somewhat over 500 litres per second, contain roughly one to two grams of carbon dioxide per litre, and are protected by a source-protection zone of about 300 km² spread across six districts.

The bathing area combines untreated water with heated brine. The healing-water pool holds natural, chlorine-free, strongly carbonated water from the Wilhelmsbrunnen at 18 °C; the indoor brine pool and the outdoor brine pool with its current channel are run at 30 °C from May to September and 32 °C from October to April; and the seated and reclining pool, the brine whirlpools and the brine exercise pool are all held at 36 °C, all fed by the Hofrat-Seyffer spring. A Kneipp station outdoors runs at 16 °C from the Cannstatter spring. Indoor water depths range from 0.80 m in the seated pool to 1.80 m in the brine pool. The bath also has a salt-inhalation room with a graduation wall, a rest room with an illuminated salt-stone wall and a reading room with water beds.

Above the bathing hall sits a 1,200 m² sauna landscape with four differently tempered sauna rooms — an outdoor sauna at about 95 °C with a salt-stone wall, a Finnish sauna at about 90 °C, an aroma bath at about 70 to 80 °C and a meditation bath at about 50 to 60 °C with music and colour-light therapy — together with a plunge pool at about 16 °C, a brine pool at about 36 °C and a cold-water pool at about 18 °C. A separate Russian-Roman steam circuit moves the bather through a warm-air room at about 60 °C, a hot-air room at about 70 °C and a humid steam room at about 40 °C.

The pool area opens daily from 9:00 to 21:30, with admission closing one hour and bathing 20 minutes before the end. Sauna hours are split by gender on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and mixed on the remaining days and on public holidays. The bath is open all year but shuts on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Good Friday and 1 May. The operator states that it is a healing and health bath without child-specific facilities, does not recommend a visit for children under seven, and bars children under three from the pools; it also announces a maintenance closure from 12 to 25 October 2026 inclusive.
