Panorama-Therme Beuren

Panorama-Therme Beuren is a thermal bath at the foot of the Swabian Jura in Beuren, Baden-Württemberg. It draws on two separate springs, and its bathing area is split between three indoor and four outdoor pools with a view over the Beuren valley.

The water

The Wilhelmsquelle is drilled to 755 metres and arrives at 48.3 °C; the venue classifies it as a fluoride-bearing sodium-calcium-chloride-sulphate-bicarbonate thermal acidulous water with a pH of 6.2, drawn from the Upper Muschelkalk and Lettenkeuper. The second spring, the Friedrichsquelle, reaches 381.5 metres, arrives at 38.5 °C and is a sodium bicarbonate water with a pH of 8.0, from the Rätsandstein. Beuren lies in the Swabian volcano field, active 16 to 11 million years ago, though the venue notes there is probably no direct connection between that volcanism and the springs. According to the venue the water is used for rheumatic and degenerative joint disease, circulatory disorders and nerve and muscle complaints, and it states the baths are not suitable for acute inflammatory conditions or serious cardiovascular disease.

Pools

Seven thermal pools and one cold pool are in use, all of them 1.35 m deep except the shallow source basin. Indoors, the activity pool is held at 33 °C and carries six massage jets, three neck showers and a gymnastics area, with water gymnastics on the hour; the Wilhelmsbecken is at 36 °C with jets set at different heights around its rim, and the Friedrichsbecken at 34 °C with a pearl effect, used for therapy sessions on weekdays. Outdoors, the panorama pool runs at 34 °C with five jets along its edge and connects to the activity pool, the flow pool — the largest outside — is at 32 °C in winter and 28 °C in summer with eight bubble loungers, a whirlpool and a current channel every hour, and the 45 m² cold pool sits at 24 °C. The Quelltopf, 0.80 m deep and for sitting only, is the hottest at 40 °C.

Saunas and wellness

A sauna landscape sits above the bathing hall, and steam baths and a thermal grotto adjoin the indoor pools. Massages, wellness packages and Rhassoul treatments are booked separately.

Visiting

Open daily from 09:00 to 22:00. Children are admitted from the age of six, and visitors under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Two and a half hours in the bath costs 17.50 EUR on weekdays and 19.00 EUR at weekends and on holidays; a full day is 27.50 EUR and 29.00 EUR. With the sauna included, three hours is 25.50 EUR or 27.00 EUR and a full day 35.50 EUR or 37.00 EUR; the sauna can also be added on arrival for 8.00 EUR. The bath is at Am Thermalbad 5 and has step-free access.
