About

The Niederrhein-Therme, located at Wehofer Str. 42 in Duisburg, is a thermal brine bath (Thermalsole) that centres on warm brine bathing across indoor and outdoor pools. Alongside the brine areas it offers a broad sauna landscape, a wave pool, a seasonal outdoor pool and a range of wellness and inhalation facilities.

Thermal Brine Pools

The site describes brine bathing at 32 °C in its indoor thermal brine area, with the water offered in both indoor and outdoor sections connected via an airlock. The indoor brine pool includes lounging recesses and cascading showers, and the wider indoor bathing zone also features a Kneipp pool, a palm garden with live plants and whirlpools. Outdoors, guests can use a hot whirlpool with brine water at approximately 36 °C, a counter-current system that runs twice hourly, and underwater massage benches. According to the site, brine bathing loosens the muscles, stimulates circulation and supports the immune system.

Sauna Landscape

The facility states that it operates 15 different saunas with varying programmes. Additional features include an adventure shower and a crushed-ice fountain, and the sauna garden offers aromatherapy sessions and its own diving pool with lounging areas.

Wellness and Inhalation

Massage and cosmetic treatments are available on site. A salt grotto provides inhalation with minerals and trace elements, and a graduation tower (Gradierwerk), built in 2021, offers sea-air inhalation. Free water-aerobics classes are held Monday to Friday at 11:30 a.m.

Wave Pool and Outdoor Pool

The Niederrhein-Therme includes a wave pool (Wellenbad) and a seasonal outdoor pool (Freibad) measuring 18 by 25 metres. Family tickets and dedicated children's and baby sauna sessions are offered.

Dining

Danny's Gastronomy operates within the sauna and brine area above the palm garden.

Opening Hours

The sauna and brine areas are open Monday to Thursday 9:00-22:00, Friday and Saturday 9:00-23:00, and Sundays and public holidays 9:00-21:00. The wave pool opens only on Saturdays and Sundays (11:00-19:00), and the salt grotto operates daily by appointment with the first session at 10:45 a.m.
