Monte Mare

monte mare Rheinbach is one location of the monte mare chain; this entry covers only the Rheinbach site at Münstereifeler Straße 69, 53359 Rheinbach, south-west of Bonn. It combines four separately timed areas: a sport and leisure bath, a sauna and wellness resort, an indoor diving centre and a heated open-air pool.

The indoor bathing hall holds a 25-metre sports pool, a shallow teaching pool used for swimming lessons and aqua gymnastics, a wave pool, a massage pool, a baby pool, a whirlpool and an outdoor pool. The operator publishes the water temperatures as a table rather than a pool count: sports pool 28.0 °C, teaching pool 33.0 °C, massage pool 33.0 °C, baby pool 33.0 °C, wave pool 30.0 °C, outdoor pool 29.0 °C and whirlpool 34.0 °C, with air temperature throughout the hall around 31 degrees; the summary line on the same page gives the range as 28 °C to 34 °C. There is a slide tower, described by the operator only as "der Rutschenturm mit seinen nervenaufreibenden Rutschen" and illustrated with a video — the individual chutes are neither named nor measured anywhere on the site, so no slide lengths can be given. The water is ordinary heated pool water: no thermal spring, borehole or brine pool is claimed anywhere on the Rheinbach pages; the only brine on site is inhaled, in a salt world with brine inhalation inside the sauna area.

The sauna resort covers a wellness house of over 1,000 m² on two floors plus a 3,000 m² sauna garden with terraced lawns, a stream and an outdoor pool with bubble and massage loungers. The operator enumerates eight heat rooms without giving a total: the Theatersauna at 80 °C on about 60 m² with light, mist, sound and moving images; a low-temperature parlour sauna at 65–70 °C; a Mentalsauna at 55–60 °C with colour and scent effects; an infrared sauna at about 50 °C; a steam bath at 35–40 °C with 100 % relative humidity; and in the garden a Gartensauna of polar pine at 80–85 °C seating up to 200 people, a Teichsauna of 500-year-old Kelo pine at 80–85 °C beside a pond, and an Erdsauna at 90–95 °C set partly into an earth bank, reaching up to 110 °C under the ceiling. Water temperatures in the sauna area are given as 28 °C indoor and outdoor pools, 13–15 °C cold plunge and 36 °C whirlpools. Also here are a herb lounge with herb steam ovens, Kneipp treading basins, an oriental water-pipe house, rest and sleeping rooms, a sauna restaurant, a solarium and a hamam offering treatments.

The indoor diving centre is a separate ticketed area with SSI courses, freediving and equipment hire. The heated open-air pool offers nearly 1,000 m² of water with a 50-metre pool, a diving pool with 1-, 3- and 5-metre boards, more than 7,000 m² of lawn, a toddler pool with a slide and a sand playground. The two operator pages contradict each other on the open-air season: the Erlebnisbad page still states that the season begins on 29 June 2024, while the prices and times page states that the 2026 open-air season ends on 6 September and that the season begins on 4 June 2026.

Published hours are sauna and wellness Monday to Thursday 09:30–22:30, Friday 09:30–23:30, Saturday 09:30–22:30 and Sunday 09:30–20:00; the sport and leisure bath daily 10:00–19:00; the diving centre Monday to Saturday 10:00–22:00 and Sunday 10:00–20:00. Bathing ends 30 minutes before closing. Admission to the sport and leisure bath is €12.50 for adults and €8.50 for under-18s on a two-hour basic tariff on weekdays, with a €3 weekend and holiday surcharge and free entry for children under 1 m. The sauna paradise, which includes the sport and leisure bath, costs €42.50 on weekdays and €45.50 at weekends, holidays and in school holidays for a day ticket, with two- and four-hour tariffs below that. Open-air pool entry is €5 for adults, €3 for children and young people and free under 1 m.
