Kristall Rheinpark-Therme Bad Hönningen

Kristall Rheinpark-Therme is a thermal bath in Bad Hönningen, Germany, set on the bank of the Rhine (Am Rheinufer / Allée St. Pierre les Nemours 1, 53557 Bad Hönningen). It combines a thermal brine bathing area with a sauna world and a wellness area, and is fed by the region's thermal brine water.

The water

The pools are supplied by state-recognised Bad Hönningen thermal brine healing water (staatlich anerkanntes Thermalsole-Heilwasser), which is iron-bearing. The brine pools carry a salt concentration of 1.5 percent, and the water is heated to temperatures of up to 35 °C. According to the operator, the water stimulates the metabolism, loosens muscular tension, relieves skin problems and helps with colds. Its recognised medicinal use covers musculoskeletal and respiratory conditions.

Pools & saunas

The bathing area combines indoor and outdoor pools together with whirlpools, and the site states a total water surface of 1,000 m². The sauna area holds six themed saunas ranging from 55 °C to 95 °C, two indoor steam baths at 45 °C, and an Ottoman hamam. Two further saunas are housed in Venetian-style gondolas outdoors; when the level of the Rhine rises, these turn into floating sauna boats.

Wellness & activities

The wellness offering includes aroma-oil and hot-stone massages. Aqua-gymnastics sessions are offered free of charge six times a day.

Facilities

On site there is a restaurant and café serving the indoor and outdoor areas, and the venue operates its own large campsite.

Visiting

Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 9:00 to 22:00, and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 to 23:00, with adjusted hours on New Year's Eve (9:00–18:00) and New Year's Day (from 10:00). The therme is open year-round, including all public holidays, except 24 December. Visitors can choose between a ticket for the thermal-bath area and a ticket for the wellness thermal area. Discounts are available through an 11-visit card (eleven entries for the price of ten), group rates (10 percent off for groups of 10 or more, 15 percent for groups of 20 or more), and a family tariff. Towels can be rented for €5.00 plus a €20.00 deposit and bathrobes for €7.00 plus a €40.00 deposit.
