Water parkPottenstein, Bavaria, Germany

A year-round municipal leisure and family bath in Pottenstein whose water is run on natural brine without chlorine gas, with a 53-metre outdoor slide, a steam bath and textile sauna in the hall, and a separate sauna area with an outdoor cabin and indoor cabins at 90 and 60 degrees.

About

The Juramar is the municipal leisure and family bath of the town of Pottenstein in Franconian Switzerland, at Am Kurzentrum 4. Its own domain juramar.info now redirects to the town website, where the bath appears as Familienbad Juramar; the footer names it Freizeit-und Familienbad "Juramar". The operator states that the water is run without chlorine gas and with pure natural brine (Natursole); no spring temperature, well depth or mineral content is published, and the site makes no thermal-spring claim.

The operator describes the indoor bath as having six areas: a swimmers' pool, a fun pool, a baby pool, the outdoor pool, a steam bath and a textile sauna inside the swimming-hall area. The swimmers' pool has a lane length of 18 metres and is also used for swimming courses and water gymnastics; every Wednesday is a warm bathing day, on which the water in the swimmers' pool is at 31°C. The fun pool has a bubble corner, a water mushroom and a bridge running across the basin, and the stairs up to the 53-metre outdoor slide start in this area. The baby pool has a small baby slide and a bubbling ball. The outdoor pool serves as the landing basin for the slide and is fitted with a cascade shower. The steam bath and the textile sauna sit within the bathing area, so they are used on a normal swimming ticket rather than a sauna ticket.

The sauna area is separate and has indoor and outdoor parts: an outdoor sauna looking towards the thousand-year-old castle, a sauna garden and roof terrace, an indoor sauna at 90 degrees with a salt crystal wall, an indoor sauna and sanarium at 60 degrees, an indoor rest area and a bistro corner. The operator notes that because of staffing it cannot currently guarantee that attendant-led infusions take place, but an automatic infusion system provides hourly infusions.

During school term the bath opens Tuesday to Friday 13:00-20:00 and Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 13:00-19:00; in Bavarian school holidays Tuesday to Friday opening moves to 10:00. Mondays are closed in the sauna, which opens 13:00-20:00 on Tuesday and Thursday, 13:00-21:00 on Wednesday and Friday and 13:00-19:00 at weekends and on public holidays. The bath is closed on New Year's Day, 6 January, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Admission valid from 1 January 2025: day ticket 5.50 euro for adults from 16, 3.50 euro for children and young people from 6, and 15.00 euro for a family ticket for two adults and three children; the sauna area costs 15.00 euro regular and 14.00 euro reduced. The two operator pages disagree on the sauna family ticket: the sauna page prints "Familienkarte (max. 2 Erw. + 3 Kind/Jug.) 15,00 €" while the prices page prints the same line at 35,00 €.

At the time of reading the operator posted that the outdoor pool and the water slide were out of service for maintenance from 15 September until about 18 September 2026.
