About
Aquawell is the municipal indoor wave bath of Helmbrechts in Upper Franconia, Bavaria. The operator's own name for it, given in the footer of every page, is Wellenhallenbad Aquawell, and the address is Adolf-Haack-Str. 7, 95233 Helmbrechts. The imprint names Licht- und Kraftwerke Helmbrechts GmbH as the operator. German Wikipedia lists the bath among the town's leisure facilities as its Hallenwellenbad. Nothing on the operator's pages describes brine, thermal or mineral water: the pools are heated ordinary water, and the salt in the house is dry salt in an air cabin rather than brine in a basin.
The operator's two pages do not agree on how the large basins are divided. The home page lists three water areas, naming the first of them Wellen-/Sportbecken, that is one combined wave and sports pool. The Wasserwelten page instead lists four separate entries with different figures: a Wellenbecken of 34.5 by 14 metres, water at 28.5 degrees, depth 0.05 to 2.80 metres, with wave operation on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and an inflatable crocodile called Sammy in the water; and a Schwimmbecken of 34 by 14 metres, also at 28.5 degrees, depth 0.75 to 3.80 metres, used Monday to Friday, with five swimming lanes, a 1-metre and a 3-metre diving board, a partitioned shallower section for non-swimmers and beginners, and a water slide. No length is published for that slide, and no page gives a total number of pools.
The other two basins are the same on both pages. The children's pool is 0.30 metres deep, holds water at 30 to 32 degrees and has a slide and water play equipment. The outdoor pool measures 14 by 9 metres, is 1.25 metres deep and also runs at 30 to 32 degrees, with massage jets, a bubble bench and water spouts; the operator describes it as usable in every season. A sun terrace adjoins it.
The wellness offer has no sauna. The Wellness page enumerates three items: a salt cabin used for 20-minute sessions, with infrared light, a steam bath, and the sun terrace by the outdoor pool. Admission to the salt cabin is charged separately at 3.50 euro for 20 minutes for two people; a solarium costs 1.00 euro for three minutes. A Badebar with drinks and snacks keeps its own, shorter hours, closed Mondays and open on weekday afternoons only during the school holidays.
General swimming runs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 08:00 to 21:00 and Wednesday 08:00 to 18:00, extended to 20:00 during the Bavarian school holidays; wave operation is Saturday 13:00 to 20:00 and Sunday and public holidays 09:00 to 18:00. The tills close one and a half hours before the end of operation. The bath closes for four weeks of maintenance in July, in 2026 from 6 July to 2 August, and on 24 and 25 December and New Year's Day; on New Year's Eve it opens 09:00 to 13:00 with waves. Admission for ages 6 to 16 is 3.00 euro for two hours or 3.50 euro for a day ticket during general swimming, and 4.00 or 4.50 euro during wave operation; from 16 years it is 5.00 or 6.00 euro during general swimming and 6.00 or 7.00 euro during wave operation. Children under six enter free. From 15 May to 15 September 2026 a summer tariff lets visitors pay for two hours and stay the whole day. A play afternoon with climbing equipment runs every Thursday from 16:00 to 18:00.
