CabrioSol

CabrioSol at Badstraße 4 in Pegnitz is a year-round bath whose indoor hall sits under a retractable roof, the CabrioDach, so the indoor area can be opened to the sky. The operator divides the site into a Ganzjahresbad open all year, a summer Freibad, and a Saunawelt. Indoors there is a 25-metre sports pool for lane swimming, a teaching pool whose water depth is variable up to 180 cm and which hosts the swimming and aqua courses, and a paddling pool for the youngest children fitted with a rainbow slide and a water cannon. The indoor attraction set includes a 68-metre PowerLight slide, neck showers and underwater massage jets, and a steam bath. In the summer months the outdoor area grows by a range of further open-air attractions.

The “Sol” in the name is backed by real brine, not branding. The outdoor brine pool is open all year and the operator states a 2 % brine content, which it compares to the salinity of the North Sea, at a water temperature of 32 °C, with bubble effects and underwater coloured floodlights after dark. The operator publishes no mineral analysis in mg/L, names no well and makes no claim of a thermal spring or of naturally occurring brine, so this is heated, salted water rather than thermal water; the rest of the basins are plain heated water.

The sauna area is described as a Saunalandschaft with a Finnish sauna, a Sanarium, a salt sauna, a Stollensauna and a steam bath. Cooling is by an ice fountain, a plunge pool and experience showers, with a foot bath, quiet rooms and seating around an open fireplace between rounds. The Stollensauna stands outdoors on the main terrace and is the second infusion sauna beside the Finnish one; it seats up to 40 people, is styled after Pegnitz's mining past and is run at 90 °C air temperature, its centuries-old polar pine timbers giving the characteristic kelo-wood scent. Mondays are reserved for women outside the holidays and public holidays, and from the new season the sauna also opens Wednesday mornings from 9 h.

Opening hours are seasonal. The published table gives the Freibad with the indoor area daily from 9 to 20 h. The sauna world runs in the cooler months only, from the end of September to the middle of May, and closes one hour later than the indoor bath. The whole site is shut for annual maintenance from 14 to 25 September 2026, after which the winter and sauna season starts on 26 September. Aqua courses run in the teaching pool, some of them through the Pegnitz adult education centre, and a free water gymnastics session is open to visitors during their visit.
