Hildorado

Hildorado is the indoor sport and leisure bath in the centre of Hilden, operated by Stadtwerke Hilden, which also runs a separate open-air bath in the town, the Waldbad; the description below covers only Hildorado. The operator lists swimming pools of several kinds, a baby pool with a play corner, slides and a sauna. In the leisure part there is a 50-metre water slide, fitness training in a flow channel, massages under a water mushroom, bubble loungers and a whirlpool installation with water at 35 degrees, plus a diving facility with 1-metre and 3-metre boards. A swim-through sluice leads to a 100 square metre outdoor pool, with a lawn for sunbathing beside it. The picture gallery adds a children's slide, a leisure pool and a learners' pool to the list.

The large slide is described as new: the ride runs 50 metres through an underwater world and black light before landing on a beach, and it now has a ride-time display. The operator publishes slide rules with it: use from age six provided the child can swim and can leave the landing pool unaided, no tandem sliding, no waiting in the landing pool, and a traffic light that must be green before the next descent.

The sauna area covers 400 square metres and the operator enumerates its rooms rather than counting them: a Finnish sauna at about 90 degrees with about 10 per cent humidity; a Rötharium at about 50 to 60 degrees and about 10 per cent humidity, with light sensors, meditation music and a rock crystal in the middle of the room; a Tepidarium at about 50 to 60 degrees and about 40 per cent humidity; and a steam bath at about 45 degrees and about 100 per cent humidity. Experience showers include a large rain shower with changing coloured light and a pebbled floor, and two further showers with alternating warm jets, sounds and an automatic programme. The screened outdoor terrace has an outdoor shower, loungers and a bar counter; its size is given twice on the same page and differently, as more than 140 square metres in the introduction and as 150 square metres in the terrace section. Wednesday is a women-only sauna day except on public holidays, and the sauna holds the Deutscher Saunabund's Sauna Classic rating. At the time of reading the operator announced that the sauna would reopen on 29 September.

The swimming area opens Monday to Friday 06:30 to 09:00 for early swimming in the sports section and 10:00 to 22:00 with all areas open, and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays 09:00 to 20:00. Water time and use of the sauna landscape end 30 minutes before the bath closes. The footer of the Hildorado page instead gives Monday to Friday 06:30 to 22:00 without the mid-morning gap. The operator publishes a lane-occupancy table for the swimmers' pool showing how many lanes are free for public swimming at each hour of the weekday, with up to five lanes free at some times. Holiday openings are listed individually, and the bath is closed on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
