გოგირდის აბანო №5

Sulphur Bath No. 5 (გოგირდის აბანო №5) stands on Vakhtang Gorgasali Street beside Heydar Aliyev Park, at the northern end of Abanotubani. It dates from 1925, and it is the bath in the quarter that has stayed a neighbourhood institution: guidebooks describe it as a local bathhouse rather than one arranged around visitors, and it is one of only two in Abanotubani that still keep a communal hall alongside rooms hired privately.

Public hall and private rooms

• A communal bathing hall — the older Tbilisi arrangement, where bathers share the pool and an attendant works the room.
• Private rooms as well, the largest taking about eight people.
• Soviet-era mosaics survive in parts of the building; the public rooms have been retiled.

The water

The bath is fed by the same sulphur springs as the rest of the quarter — the naturally warm, sulphur-alkaline water that gave Tbilisi its name. No analysis or temperature is published for this bath in particular.

Visiting

Open every day from 08:00 to 21:00. The bath is indoors. There is no website: rooms are taken at the door.
