Zdravilišče Radenci is a long-established health resort in Radenci, Slovenia, built around CO2-rich mineral water and thermal bathing, with a bathing complex of ten indoor and outdoor pools, a world of saunas, wellness treatments and a health centre for cardiovascular care.

About

Zdravilišče Radenci is a health resort in Radenci, in north-eastern Slovenia. It centres on the town's carbon-dioxide-rich mineral water and thermal bathing, and combines a bathing complex, a wellness area and a medical health centre alongside two on-site hotels.

The water

The resort is built around mineral water that is rich in carbon dioxide and rises from natural springs at Radenci; the resort's history describes the water bubbling up from three springs. According to the resort, the mineral water is used for drinking treatments and mineral baths, and its CO2 content is credited with supporting blood circulation and helping regulate blood pressure. Thermal water is used to fill the bathing pools. The resort also lists iron among the water's minerals, and applies the water to indications including circulatory, digestive and musculoskeletal conditions.

Pools & saunas

The bathing area, called the Thermal Oasis, has ten indoor and outdoor pools. Among them the resort describes a large swimming pool, a 25-metre pool, a lazy thermal river and Kneipp pools, along with features such as underwater and above-water massages, water springs, waterfalls and a strong swimming current. Water fitness classes are offered. The separate world of saunas comprises six saunas: three Finnish saunas, a steam bath, an infrared sauna and a tylarium (a sauna with a mineral-water programme), together with a Kneipp pool.

Wellness & health

The mineral wellness area offers full-body and hand mineral baths using the CO2-rich water, inhalations with mineral water, drinking therapy taken three times daily an hour before meals, and fango mud applications. A distinctive touch is the use of frozen mineral-water ice for cooling before sauna sessions. The resort also runs a Health Centre focused on the treatment and rehabilitation of cardiovascular patients, and a diagnostic centre addressing the effects of long-term stress.

History

The resort traces its origins to the physician and balneologist Dr Karl Henn, who developed the springs in the 19th century, and it marks the opening of the first health resort building in Radenci in 1883. The mineral water was bottled and sold commercially and gained wide renown in its day.

Visiting

The Thermal Oasis bathing complex is open daily from 7.00 to 21.00. Guests can stay at two on-site hotels, Hotel Radin and Hotel Izvir. The resort also offers conference facilities.
