H2O Therme

H2O Therme is a thermal bath and water-recreation park in Bad Waltersdorf, in the East Styria region of Austria, operated together with the on-site H2O Hotel Therme. The site presents it as a family thermal bath ("Kindertherme") with more than 30,000 m² of water and experience space and a total of nine thermal pools filled with warm thermal water. It lies a few metres from the Bad Waltersdorf exit of the A2 motorway and offers free parking. According to the operator, it was named the third most popular thermal bath in Austria in the 2023 Thermencheck Award.

Thermal pools and water attractions

The indoor pool landscape includes a wave pool (Wellenbecken) with an "Acapulco Beach" where waves are generated every full hour in warm thermal water, a Lazy River drift channel with a central gemstone whirlpool (Edelstein-Whirlpool) on an island, a Sternenpool with views across the therme, a Clownpool for children, a baby pool, a HopiHo water play garden with a slide, and a pool bar set in warm thermal water. Outdoors there is an experience pool (Erlebnisbecken) with gentle warm thermal water, massage jets and "champagne" loungers, and an Olympia sports pool measuring 20 metres with three lanes at 32 °C, used for lap swimming and events. Two water slides are provided: the extra-wide family slide "Blauer Blitz" and the illuminated "Speedy".

Sauna world

The adults-only Saunawelt (from age 15, textile-free) has its own entrance separate from the children's area. Indoor facilities include a Finnish panorama sauna (Lappensauna, closed in the summer months), an aroma steam bath (Aroma-Dampfbad), an infrared cabin (Infrarotkabine) with light therapy, a warm Azur-Tepidarium, and a bio-sauna operating at 55 to 60 °C. Outdoor saunas comprise a larch-wood sauna (Lärchensauna) and a tuff-stone sauna (Tuffsteinsauna) with heated slate. The sauna garden spans more than 5,000 m² and includes an "Alaska" cold plunge pool and a thermal pool with loungers, along with a Vitalbar for refreshments.

Wellness and treatments

The site lists a Relax-Spa wellness area offering massages for adults and children as well as beauty treatments.

Family facilities

The therme provides supervised children's care (from age 3) and children's programmes such as crafts, face painting, discos, mermaid courses and scuba diving lessons, represented by the HopiHo mascot. Additional areas include the HopiHo Spielewelt indoor play area and outdoor amenities such as a playground, climbing course, balancing parcours and soccer field. Food and drink options include the Vitalbar, the Arena Bar and the H2O Arena rest area.

Hotel and access

The attached H2O Hotel Therme offers family rooms, double rooms and suites, some with balconies, with direct access to the thermal bath, and provides restaurants and dining on site.

Opening hours and prices

The therme is open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 to 21:30 and Friday to Saturday from 9:00 to 22:00. In the main season a full-day adult ticket (age 15+) costs €39.50, a 3-hour ticket €28.90 and an after-4pm ticket €26.50; reduced rates apply for seniors, students, people with disabilities and children, and higher-season surcharges apply on Saturdays and holidays. Online advance booking is not offered.
