Terme Lendava

Terme Lendava (Wellness Resort Lendava) is a thermal resort in Lendava, in the far north-east of Slovenia. Based at Tomšičeva ulica 2A, it is a three-star resort that combines a hotel, an apartment complex and a campsite around pools filled with the region's thermal mineral water.

The water

The thermal water is drawn from the PT-20 borehole at Petišovci and emerges at about 62 °C. The site classifies it as a sodium hydrogen carbonate hyperthermal mineral water and notes that its high paraffin content is unique in Slovenia. Hot water was first struck here in October 1965 during oil drilling by Nafta Lendava workers, and the thermal water from the Petišovci wells was declared a natural medicinal product in 1981, with the associated Hotel Lipa gaining natural health resort status in 1984. According to the resort, the water is used for chronic rheumatic conditions, recovery after injuries and disorders of the motor system, skin problems, peripheral nerve damage and post-burn conditions.

Pools

The resort lists six pools in the hotel bathing area. These include a winter-summer pool of 220 m² (partly indoor, partly outdoor) kept at 34-36 °C, a 150 m² indoor pool at 32-34 °C, a 167 m² recreational pool at 30-32 °C, a small 34 m² children's pool at 28-32 °C, and two natural pools kept at 36-38 °C (a compact geyser pool of 18 m² and a larger 140 m² pool). In summer, from roughly the start of June to mid-September, an outdoor complex adds a 1,050 m² Olympic pool with water slides and an 80 m² children's pool, both at 26-29 °C.

Saunas & wellness

The sauna world contains four saunas: two Finnish saunas (one with crystal therapy at 80-90 °C and one with colour therapy at 70-80 °C), a Turkish steam sauna at around 50 °C, and an infrared sauna at around 55 °C. Alongside bathing, the resort offers massages, a fitness room, a hairdressing salon, and treatment services including paraffin treatments, mechanical lymphatic drainage with infrared heat, and electrostimulation.

History

After the 1965 discovery, workers built a simple 8 x 4 metre pool in 1966, and the first proper thermal pool at Petišovci opened in July 1968. Construction of the first modern hotel began in 1979, and the first phase of Hotel Lipa opened in December 1980 with 51 rooms and a 220-seat restaurant. An indoor thermal pool of 9 x 16 metres followed in 1982, a sports and recreation centre with an Olympic-size pool opened in 1988, and later phases added more rooms, spa facilities, an outdoor thermal pool and, in 2004, 84 tourist apartments along with an enlarged indoor pool.

Dining

Eating options at the resort include a hotel restaurant, the à la carte Taverna Artisan serving traditional Prekmurje dishes, the Bikini Bar and a Coffee Corner.

Visiting

The resort states that its sauna world is open daily from 10:00 to 19:00. Accommodation ranges from hotel double and family rooms to studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments, plus a campsite.
