About

Csurgó Városi Uszoda sits on Sárgáti utca in Csurgó, a town of a few thousand people close to the Croatian border in Somogy county. Despite the name — uszoda means a swimming hall rather than a spa — the site is built around a certified medicinal well. The operator describes the water as a soft, sodium hydrogen carbonate thermal water of high mineral content that rises from a depth of 1,265 metres at 67.5 °C, and recommends it chiefly for spinal complaints and arthrosis of the knee, as well as for rehabilitation after sports and accident injuries and for muscle relaxation.

The bathing area is compact and easy to read. Indoors there is a 25-metre competition pool at 28 °C with a uniform depth of two metres, and a teaching pool at 30 °C running from 75 to 120 centimetres. Outside, two thermal pools take the medicinal water: a hot pool at 36 °C and a warm leisure pool at 32 °C, both 80 centimetres deep. That pairing — a serious lap pool on one side, warm outdoor basins on the other — is what makes the place useful to both swimmers and bathers rather than only one of them.

Upstairs, a separate sauna world adds a 36 °C jacuzzi, a 21 °C cold plunge pool and a 21 °C Kneipp walking basin. The heat cabins run to two Finnish saunas at 70 to 100 °C, two infrared cabins at 30 to 40 °C, an aroma sauna at 40 to 45 °C scented with herbal essences, and a steam cabin at 35 to 40 °C. A salt room completes the floor, where an ioniser evaporates a Himalayan crystal salt solution. Guided sauna sessions are sold separately from the bath ticket, and the sauna floor carries its own house rules and etiquette pages.

Opening is uniform through the week: the bath runs daily from 14:00 to 20:00, so this is an afternoon and evening destination rather than a morning one. Parking on site is free and included in the ticket, as are locker use and a sun lounger when one is available. The operator is Aquaplus Kft., which also runs thermal baths at Siklós and Zalaegerszeg.
