About

Termálne kúpalisko Podhájska is a thermal bathing resort in the village of Podhájska in southern Slovakia, near Nové Zámky, offering the chance to rest and relax in both summer and winter.

The thermal water

The resort's thermal water is drilled from a geothermal spring at a depth of 1,900 metres, emerging at a temperature of 80 °C with a flow rate of 30 litres per second. Sourced from Tertiary springs in a young, tectonically active area, its mineral composition is widely regarded as comparable to the water of the Dead Sea. For bathing, the water is used at around 38 °C, a temperature considered ideal for relaxation and for supporting overall health and body regeneration.

Its high mineralisation, with a total of roughly 14,394 mg/l of dissolved minerals, includes:

  • Chlorides (Cl): 9,350 mg/l
  • Sodium (Na): 3,100 mg/l
  • Sulfates (SO4): 813 mg/l
  • Calcium (Ca): 491 mg/l
  • Potassium (K): 424 mg/l
  • Bromides (Br): 54.3 mg/l
  • Iodides (J): 3.23 mg/l
  • Fluorides (F): 3.2 mg/l

The abundance of iodine gives the water its characteristic brownish tint. The geothermal baths are noted for helping with skin conditions, spinal and rheumatic complaints, thyroid stimulation, gout and, through inhalation, respiratory health.

Pools and attractions

The complex features thermal swimming pools operating across summer and winter seasons, an indoor pool for year-round bathing, and toboggans/water slides. In winter the warm outdoor pools create a distinctive atmosphere against the cold air.

Aquamarin wellness centre

The Aquamarin wellness centre, named after the aquamarine gemstone (aqua marina, "sea water"), is divided into a Pool World and a Vital World. The Vital World brings together a range of relaxation procedures:

  • Finnish sauna, with temperatures up to 100 °C
  • Bio sauna, with temperatures up to 70 °C
  • Salt inhalation steam sauna for the respiratory tract and skin
  • Herbal inhalation steam sauna using medicinal herbs
  • Tropical tunnel, a 5 m passage with massage water jets and showers simulating rain
  • Water hell, a warm attraction pool at up to 38 °C
  • Sea bath thermal water shower
  • Cooling bath at up to 15 °C
  • Tepidarium with heated loungers for gentle warming and rest between saunas
  • Icefall for cooling with ice crystals after the sauna, and a bucket of courage cold-immersion feature

Massage services are also available at the wellness centre.

Balneo centrum

The resort's Balneo centrum offers specialised procedures including whole-body and local cryotherapy at temperatures between -110 and -130 °C, alongside geothermal baths, aimed at muscle and joint recovery, sleep, immunity and skin.

Dining and accommodation

Guests can dine at Restaurant Jazmín. On-site accommodation includes the three-star Hotel Borinka, Camping u Svätého Urbana and a complex of cottages/bungalows.
